Sexual trauma is linked to many other mental and physical health issues, including eating disorders. Many of the challenges survivors face place them at greater risk for developing an eating disorder. Research shows trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) are significant risk factors for eating disorder development. Sexual traumas such as rape, molestation, harassment, and other forms of abuse, can all be catalysts.? ? It’s important to detect early signs of an eating disorder because we know that early intervention can improve chances for long term recovery. Join National Eating Disorders Association this Eating Disorders Awareness Week to share this critical information and use their online screening tool to find out if you or someone you care about is at risk.? It’s never too early to take action. ? Together, we can work to improve the health and well-being of survivors at all stages of their healing journey. #EDAW ?? National Eating Disorders Association
