??? We're challenging our community to a friendly but fierce competition to see who can net the most trash by the end of the month. For the first three weeks it will be everyone for themselves picking up as much litter as they can find. After that we will take the top 16 folks to participate in a three week bracket style competition to find our winner. Recently, at the Durant Road Multi-Material Recycling Center, we recycled an old printer, some improperly discarded motor oil, and a couple of unearthed tires. We usually highlight our efforts with recycling aluminum cans, but since most of our impact involves landfill-bound waste, we try to divert wherever possible!

?????? ???????????????? ???????? ???????????? ??????????????: ?? ??-?????? ???????????? The Triangle Town Center cleanup was the most ambitious effort we’ve ever taken on. With a combined 162 labor hours over 4 days, our Workforce team and volunteers worked tirelessly to remove 6,540 pounds of trash and return 180 shopping carts to their rightful places. The scale of this cleanup not only revealed the magnitude of the issue but also demonstrated the power of collective action in creating real, visible change. This effort was made possible by the support of the City of Raleigh Municipal Government, whose partnership continues to help us tackle large-scale cleanups that improve our community. But this was about more than just trash. Each piece of litter removed felt like lifting weight off the lungs of the earth—allowing the land to breathe again. Beyond the cleanup, it was about restoring dignity to a space that had become a symbol of neglect. It was about the responsibility we all share in making our communities cleaner, safer, and more humane. Because when people come together, the impact is undeniable. The Great Raleigh Cleanup

These environmental rockstars are teaming up with us for our Litter-Free Streams program, committing to quarterly cleanups of our trash traps to keep our waterways flowing clean and free of debris. That means fewer bottles, bags, and who-knows-what-else in our creeks and more thriving habitats for wildlife. Join us in tackling litter at the source—volunteer, spread the word, and be part of the movement for cleaner water in our community! The Marsh Creek trash traps were made possible through a partnership between Sound Rivers, Inc. Litter-Free Rivers program and Raleigh Stormwater.

We're proud to highlight our new partnership with Oak City Cares! As part of our mission, contracted by the City of Raleigh Municipal Government, we're bringing our mission to the doorstep of Oak City Cares! Every week, we will be beautifying their grounds and the surrounding area. We are particularly enthusiastic about this partnership because it aligns perfectly with our efforts to employ individuals experiencing homelessness, providing them with a living wage and a pathway towards stability. This collaboration not only enhances the quality of life in our city but also empowers our unhoused neighbors towards self-sufficiency and determination.

Thanks to the incredible support of our community, I recently had the opportunity to provide more than just employment support to one of our Workforce members. This individual, like many, was in the process of restarting after facing setbacks. Alongside the wonderful donations of clothing, snacks and supplies from all of you, I was able to give him something vital—a tent and a sleeping bag. His heartfelt reaction? "Home Sweet Home." This phrase deeply rocked me. It was a stark reminder of his prior circumstances, where he had been making do with any makeshift shelter he could find. Now, he had a place that he could call his own, even if just a tent. This moment was a vivid reminder of how fortunate many of us are and highlighted the profound impact of your generosity. We all have our challenges, but it's important to remember that some face hardships far greater than ours. This has inspired a larger vision: to secure stable housing for our Workforce members. Imagine a future where each of them can have a permanent place to say, "Home Sweet Home." As the winter chill brings us together to enjoy the beauty of the snow, let’s remember, no matter what we're going through, someone else might be facing even tougher obstacles. Carry a spirit of gratitude and empathy.

Yesterday a record number of 70 volunteers joined us in a day of service to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr where we removed 1,500 pounds of litter from the roads around John Chavis Memorial Park and Community Center!
