We’re in need of 300 turkeys to help us prepare Thanksgiving and Christmas meals for those in need across Wake County. Additional turkeys will also be used throughout the year for the meal bags we distribute. We’re accepting single or multiple turkey donations, but we need them now—please don’t wait until the week of Thanksgiving! All turkeys should be frozen solid (not thawed). Raleigh Mission is a viable 501 (c) (3) in Raleigh North Carolina and was founded in 1963 to provide housing, food, clothing and educational support for individuals and families suffering from situational homelessness. The Mission has evolved during the last sixty years and has served hundreds of thousands of Raleigh families. Raleigh Mission has built and grown an ecosystem of incredible volunteers, staff members, donors and families and during the next two years plan on significant expansion and development of programs, facilities and resources, aspiring to be the benchmark for missions and families nationwide. Raleigh Mission leverages critical and credible partners in the Raleigh Durham and Chapel Hills marketplace like Tammy Lynn Center, Green Chair, Salvation Army, Food Bank of NC and Jobs for Life, to name a few. What sets us a part from other missions and organizations is the emphasis Raleigh Mission puts on education and life-skills through our world-class New Life Program and our Child Development Center. These assets support our communities and strengthen our mission to honor Christ.

Homelessness in Raleigh and Wake County is rising. As Raleigh and surrounding towns are experiencing prosperity, this growth has driven up housing costs, and it’s estimated that we are losing between 400 and 550 affordable housing units every year. About one-fourth of households in our area are spending more than they can afford for housing, and some reports predict that the number of low-income families who need affordable housing is expected to rise by up to 3,700 per year. Single mothers with children represent more than half of those needing access to affordable housing. Help us fight to end homelessness in our community.
