Rakuten has announced a collaboration with Ampere to improve data center efficiency and support sustainable AI compute. Trials so far have demonstrated a 36% reduction in energy consumption; Rakuten being the first company in Japan to deploy Ampere-based platforms at scale. Hironori Yoshida, Vice Director of Rakuten’s Cloud Platform Supervisory Department, commented, “As demand for compute increases with the adoption of AI, cloud operators need to look into platforms and solutions to realize more sustainable compute. [Breaking] Rakuten Card and Mizuho Bank announced the launch of the Mizuho Rakuten Card today at a press conference featuring Mickey Mikitani, Chairman and CEO of Rakuten Group, and Masahiro Kihara, President and Group CEO of Mizuho Financial Group.
