The 6th "Recruiters Round Table" Met Yesterday With Another Group Of Incredible Individuals Who Proudly Represented Their Company's. The Purpose Of These Gatherings Is To Bring Together Individuals From The HR World To Listen, To Learn And To Share Their Experiences With Each Other. Attendees Of These Meetings Span Over A Wide Range Of Industries Yet The One Thing We All Have In Common Is Striving To Find, Hire And Retain The Very Best Talent In Our Community. These Gatherings Are Absolutely About Personal Development For Every Attendee! It Is Absolutely Amazing To See A Group Of Complete Strangers Enter A Room and Walk Out As If They Had Know Each Other For Years. The Magic That Occurs When People Who Are United In The Same Cause, Who Come Together From Various Industries, Learn To Immediately Appreciate Their Colleagues And Peers. We Started The Gathering Talking About The Importance Of Character In The HR Field. As Each Person Followed Their Career Path, It Led Them To Recruiting As It Came Natural To Them, Almost As If They Gravitated To This Line Of Work. It Takes A Very Unique Person Who Can Easily Adapt To Work In An Arena Where There Is Constant Challenge And Many Moving Parts. Yet, It Is Their Passion And Character To Help Others That Allows Them To Ascend To Success With The Demands Of Creating A Team, A Family At Their Organizations. The Importance Of Having Both A Fixed And Growth Mindset Is Critical In HR. A Fixed Mindset Is Required For All Of The Specific Details Of Hiring Someone; Policies And Procedures Need To Be Exact. It Also Takes A Growth Mindset To Have The Flexibility To Work With Candidates From A Broad Spectrum Of Backgrounds And Experiences. You Could Literally See Agreement With The Similarities In Their Journeys To The HR Field By The Nodding Heads Around The Room As Each Person Spoke. The Work They Conduct Is Personal To Them Because They Know They Are Positively Changing Lives, On A Daily Basis. This Not Only Creates Joy In Their Vocation, But Purpose! In Their Roles, They Are Developing Unique Skills-Sets Very Different Than Any Other Department at Their Company; It Takes A Very Distinctive Talent To Be Able To Read People. Not Just What They Are Saying But What They Are Not Saying, Their Body Language, Their Facial Expressions and The Length Of Time It Takes For A Candidate To Respond. Each One Of These People Are Remarkable And A Tremendous Asset To Their Organizations!
