Rajah & Tann Singapore acted in the S$821 million collective sale of Concorde Hotel & Shopping Mall, a landmark mixed-use development at 100 Orchard Road comprising a three-storey retail podium and a 407-room hotel. This transaction marks Singapore's largest collective sale for 2024. Senior Partner Norman Ho, Partner Gazalle Mok, Senior Associate Calvin Lim, and Associate Ryan Ng represented the collective sale committee on behalf of the majority owners, who entered into a conditional agreement with Luxury Peak Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of Hotel Properties Ltd. The transaction is contingent on the grant of a statutory sale order by the Strata Titles Boards of Singapore under section 84A of the Land Titles (Strata) Act 1967. Our China Practice team participated in the inaugural Shenzhen Legal Services Exposition 2024 at the Futian Convention Center, themed “High-Quality Legal Services to Empower New Productivity.” Chengdong “C.D.” Xing and Zheng Haotian from our Shenzhen Representative office engaged with a diverse group of attendees from across the Greater Bay Area, offering on-site consultations, addressing legal inquiries, and connecting with fellow legal professionals, law firms, and legal tech innovators. Over a Saturday afternoon on 19 October 2024, Lionel Tan, Claire Tan Sze Hui and Megan Wong from our Singapore office, hosted a pro bono legal clinic for the winning teams of the Build for Good initiative. Our lawyers tackled issues raised by each of the 5 winning teams concerning personal data protection, intellectual property rights, copyright relating to coding software and open-source software, employment law and other regulatory matters as the teams seek to develop innovative solutions to support seniors and caregiving, mental healthcare, and energy savings. Organised by Open Government Products in collaboration with the Singapore Government Partnerships Office this year, Build for Good is a citizen engagement initiative which aims to empower Singapore citizens and residents to make Singapore better in their own ways. It included a month-long Hackathon where participants identify local issues and prototype solutions, followed by an Accelerator Programme.
