Leading the Transformation of K-12 Education and Tauopathies Research
关于我们
The Rainwater Charitable Foundation (RCF) is a private family foundation based in Fort Worth, Texas. Founded by Richard E. Rainwater in 1991, RCF began as a nonprofit focused on funding initiatives centered around children, believing that high-quality education can transform their lives and the lives of their families. In 2009, RCF founded the Tau Consortium, to commission world-class research and drug discovery programs to accelerate treatments of tauopathies, a class of neurodegenerative diseases including supranuclear palsy and Alzheimer’s Disease. Today, RCF’s education grant focuses on funding the betterment of school-based work and systems, with the goals of affecting change in both neighborhoods and society as a whole. Additionally, since its founding of the Tau Consortium, RCF has invested approximately $100 million providing about 65% of all US philanthropic funding for tau-related research as well as created the Richard Rainwater Prize Program to reward innovative thinking and approaches to treatment. RCF is proud to be a leader in the fight against neurodegenerative diseases. Rainwatercharitablefoundation.org Follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/RCFNeuro

Last month, we had the pleasure of hosting our #TauConsortium investigators meeting (TCIM). The event kicked off with a patient-focused spotlight on ReDLat Dementia, a multi-partner initiative expanding dementia research in Latin America, and included an awe-inspiring session narrated by documentary photographer Alex Kornhuber showcasing the lived experiences of dementia patients and their families.? Science can be competitive and isolating, but our TCIM is a powerful reminder that collaboration is essential to advance research into primary tauopathies.? ? We’re always searching for ways to help advance neurodegenerative research, such as CurePSP’s Pathway and Pipeline Grant Program. This program encourages researchers’ pursuit of new ideas that will help further our understanding of primary tauopathies by supporting the production of pilot studies that can eventually qualify for larger grants. It’s our hope that our contribution will help investigators explore their potentially groundbreaking ideas.? ? Learn more and apply for the program before October 3: https://lnkd.in/ebzrc7_Z

We convened a group of 35 experts in neurodegenerative research to implement a framework that may guide the translation of tauopathy therapeutics from discovery to early-phase clinical trials. With Howard Feldman leading the charge, experts applied the “5 Rights” of precision drug development in Alzheimer’s Disease to advise on how to de-risk common challenges and increase the likelihood of successful trials for critically needed new treatments for tauopathies. As part of our work to advance neurodegenerative research, we’re excited to expand our partnership with?CurePSP?to support their Pathway and Pipeline Grant Program with a $200,000 contribution. We look forward to the program’s scientific impact as early-career researchers pursue potential cures for tauopathies including PSP and CBD.
CurePSP is pleased to announce receipt of a $200,000 contribution from The Rainwater Charitable Foundation (RCF), one of the largest independent funders of primary tauopathy research, enabling field-advancing programs and delivering crucial resources to a diverse set of collaborative researchers to support the organization's Pathway and Pipeline Grant Program. The contribution continues a string of partnerships between CurePSP and the RCF that hope to bring innovative ideas into clinical trials. "The RCF is excited to support promising early-career researchers who are exploring novel scientific approaches to address life-altering neurodegenerative diseases," said Glenn Harris, RCF director of research partnerships, business development and the drug discovery lead. "We look forward to tracking their scientific impact through the Pathway and Pipeline Grant Program and continuing to enable research that may ultimately lead to cures for these tauopathies."
