We protect the planet and save wildlife by creating rainforest reserves through partnerships and community engagement.

关于我们

Rainforest Trust UK is a British charity working in partnership with Rainforest Trust in the U.S. to protect the world’s most threatened rainforests and other tropical ecosystems. Rainforest Trust is one of the world’s most respected and successful conservation charities, and works in partnership with trusted local NGOs and Indigenous communities to save the world’s most threatened rainforests and tropical ecosystems. Rainforest Trust has been protecting rainforests for over 35 years and has already placed over 50 million acres of threatened habitat under permanent protection. 100% of your donation goes to conservation action. We use Gift Aid and private donations to cover our operating costs, so you can give knowing your whole gift will protect rainforests (excluding transaction costs where applicable).

One of the largest remaining blocks of Amazon rainforest on Earth is at risk. In remote southern Guyana, gold mining is rapidly expanding, driving deforestation, carving new roads into pristine forests, and polluting vital waterways. This irreplaceable ecosystem could be lost forever, unless we act now. This International Day of Forests, you can help protect this extraordinary landscape by following the link to donate now: https://lnkd.in/eS-T9sGm ??: Kanuku Mountains by SRDC and Giant Anteater by Lucas Leuzinger #InternationalDayOfForests #Armadillo #Anteater #Conservation #SpeciesClimatePeople

Measuring only an inch in length, the Endangered Pickersgill’s Reed Frog (also known as the Avoca Reed Frog) is found only in scattered wetlands along South Africa’s east coast, where it spends most of its days blending into the vegetation at the base of reeds. Thanks to the generous support of donors, Rainforest Trust has successfully protected 326 acres of critical habitat for this tiny species, with an additional 499 acres in the process of being protected. While this may seem a small area when compared to many other Rainforest Trust projects, these 825 acres will protect an estimated population of more than 85,000 breeding adults. #WorldFrogDay #Conservation #Frog #SpeciesClimatePeople

Situated in the Cameroon Highlands, the Rumpi Hills of Mont Rata are an extremely important biodiverse region in some of western Africa’s oldest montane, evergreen and cloud forests. This area supports rare amphibian and plant species found nowhere else in the world. The forests are also home to Critically Endangered African Forest Elephants, Endangered Chimpanzees, and various antelope species. The rich biodiversity is threatened by increased land clearing for commercial and subsistence agriculture, illegal timber exploitation, and poaching. Rainforest Trust and partner, AJEMALEBU Self Help (Ajemalebu meaning “Nature’s Gift for Man”), will support a project to merge and upgrade two contiguous Forest Reserves here in the mountains into one National Park called Rumpi Rata National Park. This project represents the first opportunity to put into practice newly adopted national guidelines meant to ensure local communities and Indigenous Peoples are fully informed and consent to the creation of the new National Park and its management plans, and are supported in strengthening and diversifying sustainable livelihoods. In the Peruvian Amazon, the Bahuaja-Sonene National Park and the Tambopata National Reserve just to its north protect a complex mosaic of habitats that hold at least 20% of the country’s species. This megadiverse landscape borders the 4.6-million-acre Madidi National Park in Bolivia to the east. ? ? The Bahuaja-Sonene and Tambopata protected areas are critically important in safeguarding water resources flowing from the eastern Peruvian Andes highlands into the Amazon basin. Yet, increasingly, the area is threatened by illegal mining, coca production, and oil and gas exploration.? ? You can help protect 188,000 acres of this habitat, for species like the Endangered Black-and-chestnut Eagle. • Exciting news from a Rainforest Trust project in Indonesia!? ? A total of 252,678 acres ?? of rare and fragile rainforest habitat on Peling Island is now formally designated to protect the astounding biodiversity that can only be found in this unique ecoregion. ? ? This habitat is the last refuge on Earth for the Critically Endangered Benggai Crow — whose total surviving population is estimated to be between 50 to 249 individuals — and the Endangered Peleng Tarsier, a tiny primate only found on this island. Many other threatened species will also now be safe from spreading deforestation for agriculture and development.? ? This project ended up being more than five times as large as originally proposed, thanks to the diligent work of the conservation staff and local partner, @burung_indonesia ? ? Established in two sites — the Kokolomboi and the Bajomoute Pondi-Pondi — threatened wildlife will now benefit from a community-led system that accommodates biodiversity conservation and sustainable livelihoods for local communities.? ??: @burung_indonesia ? #Wildlife #Deforestation #Rainforest #SpeciesClimatePeople

  • Unsurprisingly, it can be difficult to measure the economic impact of an illegal industry. Even so, experts estimate that the global trade in illegally killed and collected wildlife — both plants and animals — is a $20 billion a year industry. ? ? By protecting acres and training patrols, Rainforest Trust and local partners are battling poaching where it happens by preventing it from happening in the first place. ? Our approach works. With training and equipment support, Rainforest Trust’s partners are often successful at reducing and sometimes eliminating poaching from project sites. ? ? Follow the link to learn about five of the world’s most heavily poached species, and how you can help protect them now.? https://bit.ly/4kAHDzk #SaveWildlife #Poaching #Tiger #Cat #SpeciesClimatePeople
