When families graduate the Rainbow Village program and move into a place of their own, we send them off with everything needed to make it feel like home - all the furnishings, bedding, kitchen supplies, and more from their apartment on our campus. We then have staff and volunteers come in to clean, paint, and prep that apartment for an incoming family, and fill it with all new bedding, kitchen supplies, furniture, and more. Help us keep our supply shelves stocked so we're ready for incoming families over the months to come! Rainbow Village is seeking volunteers to host Fun Friday celebrations each week through the end of the year! Great for groups or companies, some things to note about our Fun Fridays for the youngest Rainbow Village residents... ?? Volunteers provide an activity (stem/arts & crafts/ games/ snack craft etc.) ??Volunteers can also provide snacks or food items such as goody bags, cupcakes, & Pizza. IF food items are provided volunteers are responsible for providing paper products needed, ??Themes and Decorations are welcome but not required ??The celebration is held in the Academy dining hall during our Fun Friday period in After School. ??Estimated counts will be provided closer to signup date. ??Children 8 or older are permitted to volunteer with parent present. Youth serving youth is a beautiful thing! Rainbow Village was honored to host the first Perimeter School Serve Day of the 2024 – 2025 school year. Striving to be the place “Where Students Learn to Serve,” Perimeter Christian School students participated in a poverty simulation and packed snack bags for Rainbow Village Academy kids for the Gwinnett County School Fall Break days. While our kids are out of school, Rainbow Village will host a fun and educational Fall Break Camp onsite.

Rainbow Village is firmly founded in faith! It’s how we got our start – thanks to Christ Church Episcopal in Norcross – and how we continue to serve and grow to this day – through the support of a number of excellent Faith Partners. For example, our Community Engagement Director, Michelle Alcorn, was sitting in the congregation at Perimeter Church when she first learned about Rainbow Village in the early 2000s. By 2005, she began to volunteer on our campus, and in 2016, she became a treasured member of our staff. During October 6 services, which included a spotlight on its Community Outreach, we were honored that Rainbow Village was listed among the nearly 50 nonprofit partners in the Atlanta area that are supported by Perimeter Church. Their ongoing support of our mission speaks loudly to the power of the Perimeter’s goal to spread themselves out beyond the walls of the church.

On this #ThrowbackThursday, we’re throwing it back to 2012 when we were SO PROUD to debut newly constructed apartments on our new campus in Duluth, with room enough for 12 families. This marked Phase 1 of our expansion! In addition to a dozen new apartments, we also completed construction of our new Family Service Center – all together on one campus. By 2007, Rainbow House had evolved into RAINBOW VILLAGE, offering a combination of rental houses and apartments in Duluth to serve ten families experiencing #homelessness.
