Today is National Indigenous Peoples Day. On June 21 of each year we recognize and acknowledge the heritage, diverse culture and contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. It is important to remind one another that the land we live and work on is a part of the traditional territory of many Indigenous Peoples. We at Rain Cage Carbon Inc. would like to specifically recognize the Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation (ACFN). Rain Cage Carbon has recently entered into a partnership with Acden, one of Canada’s largest Indigenous corporations which is 100% community owned by ACFN. Together, we have started to work toward our mutual goal to improve #environmental #sustainability and economic growth in the area, contributing to a strong and sustainable future for ACFN.? ? In the words of our Chairman, Blair Aiken, “When trying to do something like we are trying to do, we felt working directly with the Indigenous community should be the first step, not the last.” ? The Acden + Rain Cage partnerships first project will be implemented in an Acden facility in Fort McMurray this year and is the first of many planned in the region which are expected to bring 100s of local jobs to the area as well as lead to the #decarbonization of existing hydrocarbon emissions in the pursuit of stewarding the land for the benefit of its people.? ? We encourage all to participate in the ongoing learning of #Indigenous history and culture and continuously acknowledge the Indigenous stewardship of these lands over millennia. One of the beautiful benefits of our partnership with Acden is having the support and encouragement to listen, reflect, celebrate and learn about Indigenous history and culture.
