This summer #Cohort2021 seniors Vaughn Thompson, Grace Boguslawski, Carina Swanson, and #Cohort2022 juniors Peyton Peck, Emmett Myers, and Charles Moloney interned at Garmin. Read below to learn more about their experiences!
Charles Moloney: “This summer I worked in Garmin's Device Interaction department developing software for the Garmin Connect app - a mobile app that works as a companion for Garmin smartwatches and devices. It was primarily backend work, and I really enjoyed how challenging the work was and how much I learned about enterprise-level code and all the tools they use. My favorite part of the job was the Summer Learning Workshops we had each week, where we covered skills ranging from Java Spring Boot, to OAuth, to Kubernetes. It was a great crash course into a lot of subjects, and it definitely made me into a better developer. Next year I plan to return to work for a different team within Device Interaction doing DevOps!”
Grace Boguslawski: “I absolutely had a blast at Garmin! Over the summer, I was mainly working on backend development, specifically working on different APIs for the Connect app. It was something new and interesting to me and I really enjoyed my project. Although the work was fun, I think the best part of my internship was the people I met. I made some really good friends there that made my experience exponentially better!”
Emmett Myers: “This summer I was a Software Engineer Intern in Garmin Labs (R&D) working on the Garmin Clipboard mobile app. Clipboard is an all-in-one team sports app designed to help coaches and athletes build workouts, review stats and more. I implemented two new features into the app that incorporated Android drawing and note taking. It was an amazing summer; I met a ton of awesome people and learned so much from the talented engineers I worked with.”
