The strength of our education system—and our ability to prepare young people for the future—depends on research that helps us understand what works in classrooms. Recent cuts to education research funding put that progress at risk. What’s at stake? ?? Critical research on math, literacy, and student mental health disrupted ?? Researchers forced to pause or abandon ongoing studies ?? Long-term risks to U.S. student achievement, economic competitiveness, and evidence-based policymaking This isn’t just about budgets. This is about ensuring every student has access to the best possible education. Strong research informs everything from how we teach reading to how we support student well-being. It tells us which gaps we need to close to better prepare students for the future. We must move forward with facts, not ideology. Our students—and our future—depend on it. https://bit.ly/41DGpL5 #EducationResearch #StudentSuccess #EvidenceBasedPolicy #EducationMatters

The capacity for real and significant change in the future resides in young people.

One year ago, I had the privilege of witnessing something truly special: young leaders stepping into the rooms where decisions are made—bringing their lived expertise, ideas, and solutions to federal policymakers at the White House Youth Policy Summit. Today, as we mark the anniversary of that moment, I’m reflecting on what it means to not just listen to young people, but to actively shift power to them. This newly released summary report captures what we heard that day—young people need more than a seat at the table; they need the resources, support, and authority to lead. The science is clear: for youth to thrive, we must prioritize belonging, purpose, meaning-making, and leadership. That means: ?? Paying young people for their expertise, just as we would any other professional. ?? Training adults to listen—not just to respond, but to share power. ?? Building structures that make youth leadership the norm, not the exception. One young leader, Malaak Elhage, put it best: "This summit is a stepping stone to establish a foundation where young people lead and create the policies that shape our lives." The work continues, and I remain deeply committed to ensuring we don’t just celebrate youth voice—we invest in youth power. I invite policymakers, funders, and changemakers to read the report and help turn insights into action. ?? Read the full report here: https://bit.ly/3QcAxmF
