To do this, we bring together unrivaled global health and equity expertise – with decades of experience in commercial strategy, health system strengthening, health equity, and therapeutic area expertise – from cancer and chronic disease to rare diseases and maternal and child health. And we’re trained to see connections and know how to leverage local market knowledge, policy and partnerships to have a bigger impact on business and public health outcomes. It's why we've worked with the leading players in health, from entities within the UN, to pharma leaders like J&J and Takeda, to the Rockefeller and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundations. And have managed more than $2 billion in health and equity programming – across 80 markets including US, Europe and Low-to-Middle Income Countries. As we approach the pivotal 2024 U.S. presidential election, it’s crucial to recognize the unique challenges facing marginalized communities, especially those living with HIV. At the recent U.S. Conference on HIV/AIDS (USCHA), experts highlighted that stigma, funding cuts, and barriers to care are top concerns for the HIV community. The outcome of this election could significantly shape the future of HIV treatment and prevention efforts. Now is the time for collective action and advocacy to uplift voices and ensure that the needs of people living with HIV are met—regardless of who takes office. Your voice matters! On September 25th, ahead of the UN High-Level Meeting on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), leaders from the CDC (Kayla Laserson, ScD, SM, FASTMH Daniel Jernigan, MD MPH, Michael Craig), CDC Foundation (Judy Monroe), and more than a dozen multinational companies participated in a roundtable discussion on combating AMR. This discussion, co-hosted by Rabin Martin and the Private Sector Roundtable on Global Health Security (PSRT), covered several topics, including opportunities for private sector engagement, vaccination as a tool to prevent infections and slow the spread of AMR, defining appropriate AMR targets given diverse country contexts, and balancing access to antimicrobials with antimicrobial stewardship. The event underscored the importance of collaboration for sustainable solutions to strengthen global health security. During #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth, we remind people of the importance of early screening, prevention, and access to high-quality care and treatment. Breast cancer is the most common cancer globally, with 2.3 million cases, causing 670,000 deaths. While chances of survival are improving in high-income countries, there are stark disparities: a 70% mortality rate in resource-constrained settings because of late detection and limited access to high-quality treatment. This gap can – and must – be closed. We are proud to work with companies that are developing innovative treatments to increase breast cancer survival rates. The United States Conference on HIV/AIDS (USCHA) is the largest annual gathering of the HIV community in the country. It brings together thousands of participants from across multiple and intersecting identities to address the ongoing challenges of HIV/AIDS and work toward ending the epidemic in the U.S. This year's theme, "Southern Joy," placed a spotlight on the critical role that activism and community engagement play in overcoming barriers to care and treatments. Grounded in the Denver Principles, which have become the foundation of the HIV response, the conference underscores how looking beyond medication and centering individuals' lived experiences can create more sustainable and impactful healthcare strategies. Rabin Martin Partner Jessica Katz, MPH represented and participated in the #MercuryProjectSolutionsSummit hosted by the University of Nairobi. Addressing vaccine confidence and uptake requires a global commitment with local and community action and multisector partnerships with tech, pharma, public and other private sector players. ?? Reflections from the Mercury Project Solutions Summit ?? Just wrapped up an inspiring day 1 at the #MercuryProjectSolutionsSummit, a global event by the Social Science Research Council and hosted by the University of Nairobi, Institute for Development Studies-UoN. The panel discussions explored scalable solutions to increase vaccine confidence and uptake globally, shedding light on the critical role of evidence-based interventions. Here are some questions explored in today’s plenary: ?Priorities: How can we ensure vaccination efforts reflect the unique needs of different communities, including Africa? What opportunities are being missed? ?Sustainability: How can we maintain momentum in building long-term vaccine demand and trust? ?Caregiver Roles: What role do caregivers play in shaping health decisions and influencing vaccination uptake? ?Vaccine Limits: How much can the body handle, and how can we effectively communicate this to the public? I had the privilege of engaging with brilliant minds like Salmon Daniel and Janesse Brewer (Institute for Vaccine Safety at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health), Prof Janan Dietrich and Catherine Hill (Wits Faculty of Health Sciences), and Anna Yalouris (Busara) - grantees of The Vaccine Confidence Fund II, led by Global Impact and supported by Meta and Merck (MSD). Together, Jessica Katz, MPH(Rabin Martin ) in exploring how to harness the power of social media to boost vaccination confidence and uptake, driving this global effort through research and collaboration. As researchers, practitioners, and leaders, we bear the responsibility of translating knowledge into meaningful, real-world outcomes that improve public health. I’m excited about the dynamic conversations still to come and look forward to continuing our work towards a healthier, more informed global community. #VaccineConfidence #GlobalImpact #MercuryProject #HealthInnovation #VaccineUptake #SocialMediaForGood
