“MY TRUTH: I am forced to put my dreams on pause due to an unlucky visa situation. A few months ago, I was offered admissions to a Master program at a prestigious university in the United States. I even had a Teaching Assistant role lined up for me and my whole course schedule planned out. Suddenly, I received the unfortunate news related to my visa. I felt so unlucky, as if my dreams were in control of someone else. ACTION: It took me 6 months to recover from this situation. And now, I'm focusing on things that are within my control. The actions that I'm taking are 1) equipping myself with all the required skills to become a product manager through coaching classes and 2) pursuing online certifications to help me stay competitive and transition to product management. I have a long road ahead, but I am confident that I'll be able to make my dream a reality one day! WISDOM: My advice to other women is that resources are everywhere. It's just how we make use of the resources that matters. Knowledge is power and there's really nothing that can deprive us of this opportunity! “My truth is that I feel like I doubt myself often. This can help me approach my work meticulously when needed, but often causes me to pass up opportunities that will help me grow and advance in my career. It has also been hard to address this as someone who appreciates when I feel confidence in myself and my colleagues. I started a few practices to better understand this self-doubt and to work with it. One is to work on accepting my feelings within the circumstance. Another is to intentionally do things that take me out of my comfort zone at work, starting with small tasks and building from there. ACTION: A tip that has helped me with self-doubt: despite having fluctuating feeling about my capabilities, if I show up and challenge myself, I will consistently grow. It's amazing! Also, it has given me empathy for my colleagues who are doing hard work!
