RWC's site work team brought new life to the Lakewood Forest Preserve in Wauconda. Our experienced crew excavated and placed soil to create a network of trails and play areas for the community to enjoy. Using a CAT 315 excavator and CAT 259 skid steer we safely and efficiently repurposed excess soil to build new roads and trails. Our CAT 303 is in place for upcoming renovations and improvements at the Chicago Park District's Garfield Park Conservatory!

RWC performed excavation for a new pool facility for the Park District of Oak Park. The old Rehm Pool was removed along with 1,200 tons of soil. We then backfilled and graded another 400 tons of CA7 stone in preparation for the new pool and lazy river. We are excited to see the new aquatic facility in action next season!

RW Collins recently installed new underground storage tanks for the City of Elmhurst. Using a slide rail shoring system, we safely excavated for these 10,000-gallon and 15,000-gallon fiberglass tanks. During the installation, we excavated and hauled over 700 tons of soil and backfilled with over 1,000 tons of clean pea gravel. With the new system operational, RWC returned and safely removed the old 10,000-gallon underground tanks and the associated piping. This project featured one of our CAT 336 excavators for both the removal and installation. Nice work, team!

In spring of this year, RW Collins was contracted for site excavation work at Lane Tech High School in Chicago's North Center neighborhood. Our scope of work included removal of the existing parking and driver's ed. lots, grading a new lot with permeable pavers and trenching for new underground utilities. Lane Tech Is the largest and one of the oldest High Schools in Chicagoland, founded in 1908 with enrollment of more than 4,000 students. It is regularly ranked in the top 100 schools in the United States academically. Lane Tech is also famous for their original school song 'Go, Lane, Go!' Written in 1915 by Jack T. Nelson, a Lane tech student at the time, the song debuted soon after it was written. Lane Tech is one of a handful of Chicago high schools who have written their own fight songs. "Go, Lane, Go" has inspired fight songs for larger universities, leaving its mark in the academic athletics scene. RWC is proud to have successfully completed the site work at this Chicago academic landmark before the school year begins. We wish a successful and happy school year to the students and faculty. In these photos, our team is installing a side rail shoring system to keep workers safe while excavating for two new underground storage tanks. Not only does this slide rail system mitigate the risk of cave-ins, but it also saves time and money by reducing the amount of material needed for a safe excavation.

This week we had to get ready for some finish stone work to do, at a prominent high-school on the northside. Both the general contractor and asphalt contractor were impressed at what we had accomplished in just two short days. Have a great weekend. ??
