  • Did you know many ERs are not fully prepared for children, which can end with tragic results? The U.S. currently has a D+ in pediatric readiness. But there's hope. Implementing proven, affordable guidelines could save over 2,100 children's lives each year. Why isn't this mandated by law? Each ER can be prepared for less than $12 per child, which leads to a 60-76% lower mortality rate for critically ill children treated at ERs with high pediatric readiness. It's time to demand action. What can we do? -Contact your representatives and tell them to advocate for these proven guidelines. -Share this infographic to raise awareness. -Support organizations like R Baby Foundation, which are working to close this gap. What's your take on the current state of pediatric readiness? Share your thoughts below, and let's start a conversation that could save lives.

  • BREAKING: “1 in 4 child deaths after E.R. visits are preventable,” according to new research & the New York Times. We’re grateful that the critical issue of pediatric emergency readiness continues to gain the national attention it deserves – and the research speaks for itself. Today’s @nytimes article by @Em.Baum highlights the life-saving importance of improving ER preparedness for children, and the cost to fully prepare ERs is less than $12 per child in most states. Our founder, Phyllis Rabinowitz, and her daughter Rebecca Ava’s story serves as a powerful reminder of why this issue matters and helps drive our mission: EVERY child deserves access to proper emergency care, regardless of where their nearest ER is located regardless of geographic location. Thank you, Emily Baumgaertner, for shedding light on this crucial topic and for honoring Rebecca’s memory. Stories like these help us continue our work to ensure all children across the U.S. have a fighting chance in emergency settings. You can read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/eNrzAM9h

  • A good way to remember it is time for a flu shot is to use the phrase ‘Boo Before Flu!’ Kristina A. Bryant, MD, FAAP, lead author of the American Academy of Pediatrics policy statement written by the AAP Committee on Infectious Diseases, advises that children receive the vaccine as soon as it is available, preferably by Halloween. “As a pediatrician and a parent, I consider the flu vaccine as critical for all family members.” “We should not underestimate the flu, especially when other respiratory viruses like COVID-19 are circulating within our communities. Besides making your child miserable and wreaking havoc on your family’s routine, influenza can also be serious and even deadly in children.” For more information on AAP’s flu vaccine recommendations for kids here: https://lnkd.in/gxejYasf...
