Radiant will be one of 35 companies presenting at Manifest: Demo Day on March 17th! Stop by (or watch the live stream) to see CEO and founder Doug Bernauer speak, and learn more about mass-produced, transportable #nuclear #microreactors. Long Walk Technologies Mike S. Landon Bell
关于我们
Radiant is a clean energy startup building a nuclear microreactor. A climate-friendly alternative to diesel generators, Radiant's Kaleidos 1MW microreactor will be the world's first portable, zero-emissions power source that works anywhere. We plan to test our development reactor by 2026 and if successful, it will be the first new commercial reactor design to achieve a fueled test in over 50 years. Our microreactor can bring power to remote parts of the world and provide backup power for life-saving applications in hospitals or disaster-relief scenarios.

"You really get to own your parts through design, through iteration, to build and it's a lot of fun to have that creative freedom and see your parts all the way through the design process." Meet Sophia Dorisio, a mechanical engineer at Radiant from the University of Michigan, Class of 2023, and learn about her day to day work as a responsible engineer from designing critical components to running hardware test campaigns. The future of portable nuclear power has never been closer! ? Radiant is proud to announce our completion of Front-End Engineering and Experiment Design (FEEED) in partnership with the teams at Idaho National Laboratory, National Reactor Innovation Center | NRIC, and U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). FEEED was the first phase of our participation in the Demonstration of Microreactor Experiments (DOME) program, during which Radiant was added to INL’s Qualified Supplier List (QSL) and submitted the Conceptual Design Safety Report (CSDR) to DOE for approval. The CSDR is the first design safety document that is created and submitted to DOE and provides a baseline from which to continue refining Kaleidos Demonstration Unit (KDU) design. Completion of these FEEED milestones unlocks our path to testing Kaleidos in 2026. ? As the hard work at Radiant continues, we are also excited to announce that we have secured a $2 million award from the Department of Energy to move into Detailed Engineering and Experiment Planning (DEEP), the second phase in preparing for DOME. Important activities that Radiant will complete in this phase include finalizing KDU design,?training our operators, and submitting our preliminary documented safety analysis (PDSA) to the DOE.?PDSA approval is an important milestone to verify the safety of our design. Unto criticality!

We’re super excited to announce the close of our $100M Series C, led by DCVC! This investment comes on the heels of our passive cooldown demonstration, a critical milestone test of a full-scale, non-fueled reactor, and brings the company’s total venture funding to $160 million. The funds will primarily be used to complete our Kaleidos Development Unit (KDU), which we will fuel and operate at Idaho National Laboratory's Demonstration of Microreactor Experiments facility. The KDU is the same reactor design that will be mass manufactured and sold to customers. Radiant is excited to welcome new investors Felicis, Washington Harbour Partners LP, and Chevron Technology Ventures, and appreciates the continued support of Andreessen Horowitz, Union Square Ventures, Founders Fund, Decisive Point, McKinley Alaska Growth Capital, Boost VC, and Also Capital. We've got the team. We've got the hardware. And now we've got the money...it's time to build a reactor!! “When we talk about advanced reactors these days, we’re not talking about things on paper.” At Radiant, we’re building nuclear microreactors out in the real world, step by step. One critical feature of our Kaleidos microreactor is its passive cooling capability – meaning the unit can cool itself down, without power, in the event of an accident. And today, we’re excited to share this deeper look our successful passive cooldown demonstration, a major milestone for Radiant in our mission to provide abundant, portable nuclear power around the world. The future isn’t just on paper anymore.

To enable a future where we can provide clean, abundant nuclear power where people need it most, safety and reliability have to come first. Tomorrow we’re sharing a deeper look at our recent passive cooldown demonstration, a major technical milestone that keeps us on track to deliver factory-manufactured microreactors by 2028. At Radiant, we’re building real hardware, we’re hitting our milestones, and we’re moving forward, fast. And we can’t wait to share what comes next. Stay tuned.

Radiant was honored to host HAC-D Chairman Ken Calvert at our headquarters in El Segundo earlier this week. We are grateful to the Chairman for taking the time to learn about how nuclear microreactors like Kaleidos will strengthen US national security. We look forward to advancing our collaboration?with DOD customers, and working to ensure Kaleidos is positioned to provide energy independence?and resilience to the US military. Decisive Point?Nate Walton
