Watch Quill.org on the TODAY show! NBC reporter Kate Snow visited the Bronx Academy of Letters, a school that has been using Quill to build literacy skills. Three students, their ELA teacher Kate Authenrieth, and Peter Gault discussed the impact of Quill Reading for Evidence in the classroom, how Quill is using AI today, and our goals for Generative AI over the coming years to help students become stronger readers, writers, and critical thinkers. A big thank you to Google's Google.org team for supporting Quill's mission and making this opportunity possible! https://lnkd.in/eTHXB3JX

Quill helps students become strong writers, readers, and critical thinkers through its free AI-powered literacy tools.
关于我们
Quill’s mission is to help more than 10 million low-income students per year become strong writers, readers, and critical thinkers. Teachers are busier than ever and have little to no time to provide individual writing feedback to their students. Plus, while curriculum experts recommend students write for at least 30 minutes per day, 74% of eighth-grade students and 91% of twelfth-grade students do not spend more than 30 minutes per day writing. By building free online tools that use AI to automatically evaluate student writing, Quill provides 4th- through 12th-grade students with immediate feedback and coaching. This enables students to revise their work immediately and quickly build their literacy skills while saving their teachers precious time. Quill is supported by grants from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Overdeck Family Foundation, and Google.org, among others.

Thank you, David Solomon, for this recognition, and to our fantastic analyst team from Goldman Sachs for sharing Quill's mission and impact through the annual #GSGives Analyst Impact Fund competition! We are thrilled to have your support and very proud of our team, who earned the second-place prize and fan favorite selection on behalf of Quill. Thank you for supporting our mission of helping millions of students grow their reading, writing, and critical thinking skills.
I want to thank all of our colleagues who participated in our annual #GSGives Analyst Impact Fund competition earlier this week. Over 700 analysts from 41 offices across 14 countries pitched for prizes to support innovative nonprofits of their choice, and for the first time in the competition’s nine-year history, we held the final round of presentations at our office in London. Congratulations to finalists Quill.org, Screen Share UK , and Solar Chapter , and to the winning team supporting onebillion, a nonprofit organization that teaches numeracy and literacy skills to students around the world. One highlight for me was speaking on stage with eight of our past winners on a range of topics from the apprenticeship culture at the firm to what makes a successful pitch. It’s remarkable to think that since 2016 this competition has raised nearly $5 million for 168 nonprofits around the world. Thank you to Asahi Pompey and the whole team for putting this event together.

Check out Katy Knight's interview with Greg Toppo in the 74 Million to see how Quill.org is carefully and responsibly building AI with teacher feedback. Katy flags that we are intentionally not building a general-purpose AI system that can do anything. Instead, we are building a highly customized AI feedback system built on particular pedagogical strategies and fine-tuned with authentic teacher feedback. This bespoke approach enables Quill to be more accurate, more reliable, and less error-prone versus generic AI tools that are trying to do everything at once. Thank you Siegel Family Endowment for supporting our research & development process for building Ethical AI for students in Title-1 schools. Here's a link to the piece: https://lnkd.in/ebTAceRK

The Quill.org team was at the Google.org Impact Summit this week! Thanks to Google's Generative AI Impact Accelerator, Quill has built an all new, Generative AI powered version of our learning tools, and we shared the very first public demo at the summit! A big thanks to Ruth Porat, Alphabet Inc.'s President & Chief Investment Officer, for supporting the summit and joining us at the Quill booth to see how we're build with Generative AI to help millions of students build their literacy skills. We're very grateful to Maggie Johnson and the entire Google.org team for hosting the summit and featuring cutting-edge technology nonprofits, including Brigitte Hoyer Gosselink, Leslie Yeh, Shiri Sivan, Erin Hattersley, Omar Medina, Aaron Ogle, and our wonderful grants manager Karla Palmer, among others! A big props to the Quill team members for shipping our next generation AI and then jumping on flights to present at the summit! Daniel Drabik, Jamie Monville, CCXP, Maheen Sahoo, M.Ed., and Brendan Shean, along with many other Quill team members, moved mountains to make this a summit successful! We're deeply indebted to Catherine Wah and Elias Moradi, our Google expert volunteers, who met with us every two weeks over the last six months to help us develop and launch our new Generative AI tools. You played a critical role in our success. At the summit we released a sneak peak of our new "Responsible AI Playbook", written in partnership with Afua Bruce, who led an excellent panel discussion! We had a full house for our breakout panel, ?“Applying AI Responsibly in Education,” hosted by Amanda Timberg and Hannah Elderfield, with fantastic panelists Philip Colligan and Natalie Lao! Generative AI is new, and how to build and evaluate Generative AI was a top of mind question at the conference. I'm grateful for conversations with Erin Mote, Alex Kotran, Jared Chung, Natalie Dunn, and Rasmi ??, among others, on this pressing question!
