Starting the new year with gratitude!

Thank you to the Randy Shaver Cancer Research & Community Fund for awarding Quiet Oaks with funds to help support our Food Program. One of the things that makes Quiet Oaks special is our understanding that food is more than sustenance - it is comfort, connection and dignity. Our food program ensures that residents, regardless of their diagnosis, can still experience the joy of favorite meals and family gatherings. We serve not just our residents, but their entire support network, creating a warm, home-like environment where families can focus on what matters most - being together. Last year, 51% of our residents had a cancer diagnosis, making Quiet Oaks a crucial partner in Central Minnesota's cancer care continuum. With grocery costs continuing to increase, our food budget is stretched thin. Last year we served 12,400 meals to residents, families, visitors and volunteers. WOWZA! Quiet Oaks Celebrates National Hospice and Palliative Care Month this November In a culture that often teaches us to resist mortality and a healthcare system defined by interventionism, the seemingly simple act of having a conversation about dying can have a profound impact. What does death mean in your life? If you are faced with a terminal diagnosis, how would your values shape your end-of-life journey? How do you want your loved ones to engage with you toward the end of your life? It’s difficult to think about these questions, but having these courageous conversations with yourselves, family, friends and doctors can mean the difference between having the type of death you want – one that matches up with your values and desires – and one that doesn’t allow you to have a say in your own end-of-life journey. Throughout Hospice and Palliative Care Month this November, Quiet Oaks is encouraging everyone to have these Courageous Conversations to start a meaningful dialogue on “dying a good death.”
