Finance & Information Systems @ UMD | Smith Business Leadership Fellows | Public Leadership Scholars Program | QUEST Honors Program
Yesterday, my team won the Smith Invitational Case Competition, an annual winter break event that challenges students to apply their skills to real-world problems. This year’s competition focused on social responsibility, tasking us with selecting a publicly listed automaker to invest in over a 3-5 year horizon based on financial and sustainability performance. Our team conducted in-depth research on 12 EV companies, collectively representing 80% of the EV market, evaluating financials, sustainability, geopolitical/management factors, and market/competitive advantages. After many hours of collaboration and preparation, we delivered a presentation we’re proud of and grateful to see resonate with the judges. I want to thank Keola Evans, Nima Farshchi, the Center for Social Value Creation, and the Snider Consulting Group for organizing this outstanding competition and creating a platform for students to grow. I’m especially proud of my teammates—Jiayi Wang, Marvi Shroff, and Meilin Yuan—for their dedication and effort throughout this process. We’re thrilled to represent the Smith School at the Milgard Invitational Case Competition on Social Responsibility later this semester in Seattle.
