关于我们

Queer Kentucky is a diverse LGBTQ+ run non-profit based in Kentucky working to bolster and enhance Queer culture and health through storytelling, education and action. Through our storytelling approach, we give visibility and celebrate the lives of LGBTQ+ folx in the great Bluegrass State. Visibility alone is life-saving. We also partner with organizations that help educate LGBTQ+ folx on safe sex and healthy lifestyles with a large focus on creating Queer sober spaces. Queer Kentucky actively works with organizations and businesses on their inclusivity efforts that enhance the well-being of their employees.

How many of us have protested for our rights, but have no idea who our state representative or state senator is? (I'm guessing a lot of us at some point.)? In 2023 we saw Roe v Wade dismantled as well as the passing of SB 150, two acts that highlighted the power that state governments have over marginalized communities. And the Supreme Court could return many more powers and decisions to our state government in the future. ? Get prepared for this election with the Queer Election Guide.? With the heated political climate for LGBTQ+ Kentuckians, there have been many responses from communities across the state– from anger, to hope, to exhaustion. In 2023, in response to the first legislative session with a slate of anti-LGBTQ+ bills, young Kentuckians?rallied in the hundreds?at the state capital to fight?SB 150. In 2024, after the second legislative session with more anti-LGBTQ+ bills, many students were left?feeling immobilized, defeated, and afraid. https://lnkd.in/gAiQPyVE

For generations Bourbon whiskey has ebbed and flowed in and out of popularity and prestige, but as a uniquely American product, it’s long been part of the national beverage alcohol conversation. Over the past 20 years, however, Kentucky’s passion for the craft spirit has gained reverence from all over the world and with the institution of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail in 1999, the state established an open invitation for the world to come to our front porch. We invite them into our workplaces, we have them sit at our dining room tables, we even share a dram or two. If you’re lucky, when you’re not being schooled by the category’s most innovative minds, you may even meet an industry legend with a story to tell (veracity of which may vary). https://lnkd.in/gs328TEU

Josh Johnson is a Kentucky gentleman. That’s how he put it to fashion industry leaders from New York to Los Angeles while working as a clothing buyer more than a decade ago. Folks followed the phrase with confused looks and questioning glances at Johnson’s long hair and tattooed skin. “You’re not really what we expected someone from Kentucky to look like,” they’d say.?https://lnkd.in/gXSDnjMQ
