I’m thrilled to have been awarded ‘Government Pioneer in Quantum’ at the 2024 Quantum Leadership Awards, held in Washington D.C. ? While I couldn’t be there in person to accept it, I was able to provide a video thanking those who have recognised the importance of advancing quantum research and technology for Australia’s future, and I’d like to recognise them again in this post. ? I’d like to acknowledge the Minister for Industry and Science, the Honourable Ed Husic MP, who entrusted me with the task of leading the development of the National Quantum Strategy and being an advocate for quantum here in Australia and overseas, and the Australian quantum community for their ongoing collaboration and support. I want to thank the Department of Industry, Science and Resources’ Quantum Branch for their incredible work, the Australian Quantum National Advisory Committee, and all the researchers, students, startups, and businesses who have dedicated their minds, souls, and careers to quantum. ? This award isn’t just for me – it’s for all of us working to turn the promise of quantum and its technologies into reality all around the world. Together, we are not only shaping the future, but we are ensuring that it is one where quantum technology benefits all of society in all corners of the globe by enabling what was impossible in the past to become possible. ? As we wrap up Quantum World Congress, I find myself reflecting on the remarkable progress in the #QuantumIndustry. In recent years, we've witnessed a significant transition from laboratory research into the commercial marketplace. Although there is still much work ahead, the rapid advancements in technology are capturing the attention of nations worldwide. I am grateful for the opportunity to engage in discussions about how countries are contemplating policies, regulations, and governance structures that will shape the future of the quantum industry for decades to come. It’s essential to find a balance between national security and economic security as we move forward. We had the incredible honor of hosting a powerhouse keynote panel at Quantum World Congress 2024, featuring PsiQuantum's EVP of Public Sector, Mark Brunner; Chief Business Officer, Stratton Sclavos; and Gabe Sulkes, Investment Director at Trade and Investment Queensland. The panel explored the vital role of public-private partnerships in accelerating the future of fault-tolerant quantum computing and catalyzing economic growth in regions like Queensland. As one of the seven finalists selected to participate in the Quantum World Congress pitch competition, our CEO, David Roy-Guay, took on the challenge of showcasing our quantum magnetometer earlier this week. Competing alongside some of the most innovative minds in the field of quantum technologies, we are proud to announce that we have secured 3rd place! We would like to congratulate EuQlid and Qruise who came in 1st and 2nd place respectively for their insightful presentations! ?? ? A huge thank you to the organizers of this amazing event as well as the pitch competition judges for their time and involvement in order to make this possible!??? ? Finland's quantum expertise made waves at Quantum World Congress this week! As a forerunner in quantum technologies, Finland attended #QWC2024 with an impressive delegation of companies and speakers, highlighting our commitment to driving innovation and building new collaborative and transnational partnerships. Notably, Finland ???? and the US ???? signed a cooperation statement in 2022 to enhance research, foster innovation, and strengthen commercial ties in the quantum sector. The congress attendees had the chance to hear Consul General Jarmo Sareva shed light on Finland's strengths in the quantum ecosystem and the importance of global collaboration during Johns Hopkins Science Diplomacy Hub's Panel on Emerging Quantum Programs, Finland's Country Showcase and the 2024 International Forum. #Quantum #ScienceDiplomacy
