The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) held the DOE Solar Energy Technologies Office OPTIMA FOA Kickoff Meeting in DC this week with the principal investigators (PIs) and technical leads of the thirteen projects awarded under the OPTIMA announcement.?The meeting was for the various funded teams to meet one another, learn about the proposed research, and foster collaboration.?Quanta Technology, LLC expert David G Hart presented the Grid Operator Analytics and Assessment Tools for Inverter-Based Resources Dominated Grid (GOAAT-IBR) project which includes Quanta Technology, Entergy, Dominion Energy, Con Edison, Florida Power & Light, Salt River Project, Sandia National Laboratories, and PingThings.?The project is focused on advanced analytics using synchronized measurements for system operators. #QuantaTechnology #DOE #OPTIMA #GridOperator #Analytics #IBR #Energy

Quanta Technology, LLC expert David Elizondo recently chaired a panel, “Route Map for the Supply of Electric Energy in Nearshoring” at the 2024 IEEE Power & Energy Society Generation, Transmission, and Distribution and IEEE Autumn meeting in Mexico. This panel covered geopolitical changes that have positioned Mexico as the most attractive country to relocate the production processes from their original location outside the USA, referred to as nearshoring, to take advantage of the existing commercial transactions between Mexico and USA through the TMEC and, perhaps mainly, of the geographical closeness between these countries. A roadmap for the supply of electricity in the Mexico-USA nearshoring area is crucial to guarantee the continuity and efficiency of all the production processes' operations.?It must ensure resilience against possible interruptions, facilitate the identification of sustainable energy sources, optimize the distribution of resources, and promote the adoption of clean technologies. In addition, it has to facilitate the strategic planning of shared electrical infrastructures, promoting cross-border collaboration and meeting environmental objectives.?This panel will discuss a comprehensive approach in the nearshoring roadmap to meet the growing energy demand of the nearshore supply chain, driving competitiveness and sustainability in the region.
