The QM community continues to lead the charge in the discourse on higher education. QM’s Bethany Simunich is a contributor in The Chronicle of Higher Education's 2025 Trends Report, an annual investigation into the most consequential developments in higher ed. Highlights of the report include: >> Surging Demand in online learning: In 2019, 14.8% of undergrads took fully online courses; by 2023, over 54% had some online learning. >> Shifting Student Expectations: Online learning has become mainstream, with a deeper focus on serving students at all levels and in all modalities. >> Beyond Access: Students want more than recorded lectures — they expect engaging, well-designed courses. >> Faculty Buy-In & Resistance: More professors see online learning’s value, but concerns over rigor and institutional identity persist. 关于我们
Quality Matters (QM) is the global organization leading quality assurance in online and innovative digital teaching and learning environments. It provides a scalable quality assurance system for online and blended learning used within and across organizations. When you see QM Certification Marks on courses or programs, it means they have met QM Course Design Standards or QM Program Review Criteria in a rigorous review process. A member-based non-profit organization, QM is one of the largest providers of assessed professional development for online faculty. While many organizations offer “sit and get” webinars or issue certificates of completion for lightly-facilitated workshops, QM courses and workshops feature rigorous assessments and robust facilitation. This professional development supports QM quality assurance at the member organization and throughout the QM community.

This QM member is making big strides for quality this spring break!
During Spring Break, I’m setting aside time for my own professional growth with QM Quality Matters: - Introduction to UDL 3.0 for Online courses - Relational Teaching and Learning - Voice and Choice Key takeaways: 1. When designing learning experiences, prioritize building meaningful relationships between instructors and learners by fostering open dialogue, trust, and collaboration. 2. Integrate strategies that encourage active engagement, co-construction of knowledge, and psychological safety, ensuring that students feel valued and heard. 3. Apply relational pedagogy principles by incorporating personalized interactions, reflective discussions, and community-building activities, especially in online learning environments.? 4. Implement strategies that enhance intrinsic motivation so that learners are driven by their own curiosity and desire to learn. This one is my favorite ?? !
