QUAKER CITY MERCANTILE IS A COMPLETELY UNIQUE ENTERPRISE We create our own products, partner with others to create new brands, and consult to grow existing businesses. Our staff comprises creative teams, mixologists, bartenders, chefs, historians, novelists, brand ambassadors, distillers, sales and retail teams, and even a biochemist with a PhD. This enables us to work in a comprehensive, holistic manner on all phases of ideation, design, production and go-to-market strategies. QCM is also a federally licensed distiller, with our own bar and distillery: Art in the Age and Tamworth Distilling. All of this gives QCM a unique capacity, not only to develop disruptive, market ready concepts, but also to bring them to market and keep them growing.

    In the heart of a town nestled at the foot of the White Mountains, we brought Tamworth Distilling and Mercantile to life in 2015—a sanctuary of craftsmanship where farm-to-bottle seamlessly intertwines. The land itself is the beating heart of this dream. The water that nourishes our spirits flows from the pristine Ossipee Aquifer, while grains, fruits, and vegetables hail from the fertile farms within a 150-mile radius. Botanicals—each one wild and untamed—are foraged from the surrounding forests or nurtured within our own gardens. It’s a harmonious cycle, where nature’s bounty fuels our creation, and in return, we honor and sustain the land that gives so much. Our mission? To chart new territory, to transcend the ordinary and venture where no distillery has dared to go before. We are inspired by the fearless pioneers of the past, the New England Transcendentalists, who, like us, sought to forge a deeper connection with the land, with one another, and with the very essence of what it means to create. This story, rooted in the soil of New Hampshire, is as old as the American dream itself—a tale of innovation born from tradition, where we build with the land, not against it. What we take, we always give back. And what we’ve made, we share with you. From our local, house-milled grains to the pure mountain water, from the herbs plucked fresh from the woods to the fruits harvested from the earth, each sip is a testament to our scratch-made ethos. Here, every spirit tells a story. A story of place, of passion, and of the extraordinary journey that nature invites us to take.

  • The competition for ‘air time’ is steep in a crowded market space. Brands looking to stand out often come to QCM for help cutting through the noise. A new brand or campaign can create buzz, but to ensure a brand continues to grow over time, we stoke its fire with what we call ‘creative grenades’ - ideas purposefully designed to capture people’s attention and garner explosive amounts of press for a brand. Many of our most impactful were for the undeniably delicious, and famously quirky, Hendrick’s Gin. In 2023, we created an alternative mode of transportation to the Super Bowl that only Hendrick’s could offer. A cucumber blimp. Perhaps not (definitely not) the fastest form of transportation, what it lacked in speed it made up for in luxury. With fuzzy green slippers, rose-scented body oil, a cucumber slice eye mask, a cup of tea, botanical tooth powder and a curated selection of incredible Hendrick’s cocktails onboard, it didn’t even matter to passengers if they ever made it to the big game – which is good, because it was likely the low-emission, extremely slow cucumber airship would likely not arrive in time for kickoff. We don’t remember who won the Super Bowl, but we can confirm the giant flying cucumber won the attention of everyone from Newsday to Adweek without so much as a touchdown.

  • Partnering with Piedmont Distillers, North Carolina's first legal distillery, we developed the strategic positioning and packaging for Midnight Moon Moonshakes, an indulgent offshoot of their flagship brand Midnight Moonshine which combines two American Classics: Moonshine & Milkshakes. Our nostalgic design leverages the authentic Americana roots associated with both moonshine and milkshakes, with enticing cues for their delicious flavors. Identifying the category’s craving for exciting ingredient combinations, we leaned into variants that subvert the moonshine category’s 'outlaw' approach to branding. The result was an instant success, resulting in Piedmont expanding their production capabilities to fulfill presale demands. In light of this response, we flowed the new identity into a rebrand of the larger brand architecture.
