Looking back at 2024, we see that some European countries stood out in terms of the number of investments their quantum startups received. Leading the way were the UK, the Netherlands, and Germany, home to a diverse range of companies working across the quantum ecosystem—from hardware development to quantum cryptography and error correction. Among them, the UK’s Riverlane secured the largest deal among European quantum startups in 2024, tackling one of the industry’s biggest challenges: making quantum computing scalable through advanced error correction. But numbers alone don’t tell the full story. When we zoom out and consider investment volume and startup valuations, other European countries also emerge as key players. The continent’s quantum landscape is not only growing but also geographically diverse — supported by strong governmental initiatives that fuel innovation, foster collaboration, and drive advancements in the field. From deep-tech hubs in the Netherlands to Germany’s strong industrial base and the UK’s research-driven ecosystem, Europe continues to play a role in shaping quantum technology. As we move into 2025, it will be interesting to see how the landscape evolves. Looking Back at SPIE Photonics West 2025 – A Fantastic Experience for Diatope! ?? The?SPIE Photonics West 2025?in San Francisco was an incredible conference and trade fair, showcasing the latest innovations in photonics and quantum technologies. ?? At our iconic booth?#3288, we had the pleasure of presenting our unique NV diamonds ?? to a wide range of visitors. Eva Raffalt?engaged in exciting discussions, explaining the benefits of our NV diamonds and the innovative fabrication approach that sets us apart. We were also thrilled to welcome our colleagues from?AMIRES as part of our involvement in the EU projects?QU-TEST & QU-PILOT. A big thank you to?Jana Mwangi,?Stefania-Felicia Pavel, and the entire team for the inspiring conversations! ?? While Eva was busy at the booth, our CEO Dr. Johannes Lang attended fascinating presentations by researchers from around the globe ?? on topics such as photonics, diamond-based quantum sensing, and quantum computing. We were also honored to present Diatope’s recent work on?13C?nuclear spin registers near NV centers for large-scale quantum simulation, which sparked great interest and discussion. ???
