Your Input Needed: Help Us Shape the Future of Transportation for the Blind and Low Vision Community
At the LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired of San Francisco, we are always striving to stay at the forefront of innovations that will empower our community with greater freedom and independence. Recently, I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with an exciting company called QiBus, and I wanted to share something truly groundbreaking with you.
As you know, we’ve often discussed autonomous vehicle technology, but what if we could go beyond simply using this technology? Imagine being able to own your own vehicle or share one with friends, yet without the traditional barrier of having to drive it yourself. Most cars sit idle 95% of the time, so why not have the option to have someone remotely drive you where you need to go? This technology could remove the frustrations of guide dog denials, make it easy to take your pets to the park, and ensure that you travel in privacy and comfort—without the need for conversation with a driver!
While this may sound like a dream, I’m thrilled to tell you that it is no longer just a futuristic concept—it’s something that’s possible right now.
Our partners at QiBus are conducting a survey to gauge market interest in this innovative transportation model, and they’d love to hear your thoughts. This will help them tailor the technology to better serve our community, and your insights will be invaluable.
I’ve personally experienced this technology firsthand, and I can tell you—it is amazing! This is a transformative step forward in how we think about mobility for blind and low vision individuals, and I truly believe it has the potential to revolutionize the way we navigate the world.
If you’re interested, I encourage you to take just a few moments to complete the survey. As an added bonus, by participating, you’ll be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a $50 Amazon gift card!
Survey Deadline: December 19th.
