To describe the cannabis industry as dynamic would be an understatement of monumental proportions. If you're focused on creating and collaborating on the industry's best standards in an industry that is federally illegal and the only federal oversight is one prohibitive in seemingly every which way, you require inordinate patience and conviction to stay true to your company's values. We're on the cusp of rescheduling the DEA classification of cannabis with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) recommendation to do so from I (the most restrictive) to III (allows for healthcare providers to prescribe cannabis, removes banking restrictions, allows for far more much-needed research, and more). "Cusp", of course, is nuanced. If rescheduling does occur, it's likely to be at least a year. For those 1708 teams of folks who applied for Maryland cannabis business licenses, it's another game of patience. They're waiting for news of pass or fail on their respective applications to move into the lottery round for a conditional license.
