In IT, we talk about bugs constantly. But have you ever considered that bugs don't just exist in code — they exist in processes too? Processes like Friday Code Freezes, while intended to reduce risks, often have unintended consequences: delayed value delivery and reduced investment in proper QA practices. Just like with code bugs, we need to detect and address "process bugs" that introduce risks and inefficiencies. Bugs in processes can result in poor collaboration, missed opportunities, and, ultimately, more bugs in code. Let’s start treating buggy processes as seriously as buggy code. Through postmortems, retrospectives, and proactive learning, we can build better systems for both people and products.

Ask three testers what software testing is, and you’ll likely get five different answers. Why? Because testing is vast, nuanced, and hard to pin down. And when you start using “quality assurance” and “testing” interchangeably, it gets even more confusing. We asked Lena Pejgan Nystr?m to share her thoughts, and she made a lot of interesting points. One that stood out is her belief that testing is not just a step in the process; it’s an ongoing practice that influences every phase of software development. Read her article to get a deeper understanding of what software testing is and how it influences the entire SDLC.?

Why do we call defects "bugs"? ?? From Edison’s Quadruplex telegraph to a moth in a computer in 1947, the word “bug” has a storied history in engineering. It reflects more than just coding errors; it represents our ongoing battle with pesky, unpredictable problems.

Our first Quality Engineering meetup in Stockholm, Sweden was a success! Special thanks to Regent AB for partnering with us and providing the venue. And of course, we couldn't do these meetups without the amazing speakers! We've linked replays of all three talks: - Surviving and Thriving with AI in QA by Maryia Tuleika - Quality, Happiness, and Developer Productivity by Edward Schauman-Haigh - Magical Thinking: From Astrology to Code by Vitaly Sharovatov We hope to see you at one of our meetups in Europe soon! Next up is Amsterdam on November 27th.

Vitaly Sharovatov debusting a myth on software development at Agile Testing Days | Nov. 19 – 22, 2024 : ?QA is slowing down development“. With QA he is referring to ?#testing“ - as a lot of peiple out there do mix this up. Fully agree with that! How can we dare to come to this quote that if we pay attention to quality this is slowing us down in our desire to create quality products? What might slow us down is that our overall development process might not be the best one at all? Thanks Vitaly for debusting this and other myths. #AgileTD #Quality #Software
