Q5D provides software and robotics solutions for manufacturing wiring harnesses—critical components in a wide range of products, from cars and aircraft to hair dryers and washing machines. Currently, wiring harness production is a manual, complex, and costly process. With the global market valued at $200 billion, it is widely recognized as ripe for automation. Q5D is already collaborating with some of the world's largest manufacturing companies, supplying pilot lines and undertaking key projects. The next phase is to prepare our business and products for full-scale production. Over the past few weeks, Q5D has been travelling extensively, with visits to Japan, the USA, Germany, and now Italy. This week, our time in Rome allowed us to engage directly with businesses and universities across Italy, sharing our needs and capabilities, exchanging ideas, and forging new partnerships to support a more productive and healthier future for both nations. The success of these interactions was made possible by the dedicated teams from the UK and Italy, ensuring seamless communication and a highly productive two-day visit. We were privileged to be hosted at the stunning Villa Wolkonsky, the official residence of the British ambassador in Rome. A huge thank you to the incredible teams who made this happen— Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, Innovate UK Business Connect, and Innovate UK. Special appreciation to Jane Watkins, Melanie Horstead, and Anshumaan Krishnan Ayyangar MIET for their contributions. From the Italian side, Diego Coglitore was a fantastic host, helping us build invaluable new connections. Finally, thanks to all the attendees who made this trip so enjoyable—your company, the sightseeing, and of course, the amazing food, made it an unforgettable experience!

Late January 2025, Q5D were hosted by Deutsche Bahn and the Mindbox group to introduce our technology to the engineering teams who keep the German rail network running. This vital national infrastructure requires automation for maintainence and growth. Q5D were scouted and selected to pitch our unique robotics solution. Our industrial electronics automated assembly methods were very well received and we look forward to a mutually valuable future working together. We unpacked a very big box today! Workload for our applications team and high demand for Q5D Technical Assessment Centre ( TAC ) https://q5d.com/tac/ has made it necessary to add another 5-axis robotic wiring machine (CY10W) to our facility in Portishead, North Somerset. This will allow us to increase capacity of our wiring harness automation services, if you have a loom or harness requirement then please get in touch.

During trade missions to China and the USA toward the end of 2024 Q5D have made excellent new connections: General Motors invited Q5D to attend The Department for Business and Trade’s automotive technology supplier mission in Detroit, Michigan, USA, on 18 -20 November 2024. Thank you to Chloe Devlin and the team at DBT for organising this valuable opportunity. A visit to China in November 2024 included Dongguan manufacturing workshop, China High Tech Fair (CHTF) ?and GBA trade mission thanks to assistance from Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). These introductions and follow up meetings have proven the immediate need for Q5D’s Robotic wire harness manufacturing technology - globally and across many sectors. ? ?

The Industry Day at the MTC - Manufacturing Technology Centre on Wednesday was excellent. Q5D and Emixa UK & Ireland presented progress on the development of the Hardware and Software products and the MTC demonstrated Q5D's wire deposition machine integrated with a robot arm to load and unload (watch out for the videos in a later post). It was also great to hear JLR talk about the collaboration with Q5D and meet up with other customers and potential customers.
