Our Mission Provide communications and public affairs strategies to good causes that strive to have lasting impact by strengthening communities and creating a more equitable and sustainable world. About Us We've been winning the good fight since 1993, when founder John Hoyt decided a communications firm could make a difference. Today, with offices in Seattle and Portland, we remain true to our original vision. We provide knowledge and skill to organizations of all sizes working to create positive change. We know from decades of working with mission-driven organizations that smart marketing combined with the common good creates lasting engagement, whether it is for CSR, Rock the Vote or the good food movement. Depending on your project, our in-house experts—in branding, social media, web design government relations and more—become members of your team, bringing a fresh perspective that allows us to amplify the positive impact of your work. We stay at the leading edge of our craft, investing in innovation, emerging ideas and new skills for our staff and new services for our clients.

On February 11, Seattle has the opportunity to decide how social housing will be funded. With 44% of Seattle renters considered “rent burdened” (paying more than 30% of their income toward housing), social housing is an important tool in our toolbox. ? Proposition 1A: Will rely on a small excess compensation tax on companies that pay any employee $1M. Employers pay the social housing payroll tax, not employees. This is expected to generate about $53 million each year. The funding under 1A would go toward buildings housing people making up to 120% of AMI. Proposition 1B: Will allocate $10M per year for five years from existing JumpStart Payroll Expense Tax revenue that is already dedicated to conventional affordable housing. It will also limit Seattle Social Housing’s ability to serve rent-burdened residents in the 80-120% AMI income bracket such as teachers, firefighters, and nurse practitioners. "The way that Native people see ourselves impacts the way that we treat ourselves." - Matika Wilbur (Tulalip / Swinomish) Matika's remarks provided a powerful call to action at the Chief Seattle Club Luncheon yesterday. Here at Pyramid, we believe that Native people hold the power to transform how we care for each other and we see Chief Seattle Club leading that movement in our community. Native Americans and Alaska Natives represent 15% of the homeless population, while making up just 2% of the general population. Chief Seattle Club is leading in community care, and on a mission to create sacred space for our relatives, aiming to achieve functional zero for urban Native homelessness in King County by 2030. Last month, one of our teammates was honored to attend the 35th Annual Centennial Accord, hosted by the Suquamish Tribe! The Centennial Accord is a crucial convening for federally recognized tribes in WA, as it is an opportunity to connect directly with the Governor on priority topics and issue areas for each tribe. Attending the Centennial Accord is valuable in informing the work we do daily for our clients within Indian Country. We look forward to attending the next one!

The majority of Washington tribes are opposed to Initiative 2117, which would end protections for our air, water, forests, and farmland and allow more pollution in our state. Initiative 2117 would halt funding to essential projects including restoration, transportation, and salmon recovery, among others. We are incredibly proud of our partnership with tribes in Washington. Read more about this important issue on November’s ballot and get involved at https://no2117.com/ https://lnkd.in/g4C9Yk-e
