The program - designed to uplift justice involved youth over the age of 18 who are disconnected from job opportunities - kicked off with a professional development session led by PYN staff focusing on pre-application training, resume building, and interview prep. Philadelphia Youth Network is honored to announce our recent recognition by the Philadelphia City Council for our dedication to the youth ecosystem and our 25-year anniversary! Last week, Wendy-Anne Roberts-Johnson, Noah Lattanzi and I accepted a resolution at City Hall. A heartfelt thank you to Director of Legislation Cykhira Walton, Councilmember Anthony Phillips (you both are amazing), and the entire City Council for this acknowledgment!!! We are excited to continue impacting the lives of youth and families in the Greater Philadelphia Area. It is both a pleasure and a honor! Stay tuned for more updates!

Some Philly kids spent their entire summers playing video games — and their mentors couldn’t have been more proud. Sarah Huffman checked in with esports hub Nerd Street to get the lowdown on their latest programs, which include a partnership with pro sports team the Philadelphia Union and workforce development org Philadelphia Youth Network. “All the same skills that they’re getting at a traditional sports camp, they’re getting at our esports camp,”?said Nerd Street coordinator Ydian Velez. https://lnkd.in/eP46NfNB

Congratulations to the team at PYN. Such a great summer. And on a personal note, my son had “the best experience as an intern ever”. This is the first summer I watched my son grow, thrive, and smile while working. He had the best time at IHeart with WDAS 105.3 FM. From the 1st day to the last day my son was on the radio doing promos, sharing his thoughts, and enjoying working with the legends Frankie Darcell and Patty Jackson. It was awesome to hear him speaking on topics ranging from the election to the Olympics to showing the pride he has in his fraternity. ?? Thank you Wendy, Christian, Dariell and all of the PYN Team. This year I saw your work from a different scope and perspective. I was able to just be a parent instead of a partner and it was an amazing experience.
