Building strong self-sufficient Native American communities
关于我们
Partnership With Native Americans is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to championing hope for a brighter future for Native Americans living on remote, isolated and impoverished reservations. Collaborating for more than 25 years with our reservation partners, we provide consistent aid and services for Native Americans with the highest need in the U.S. The majority of PWNA's support is designed to help meet the basic human needs of those most vulnerable: Native American Elders and youth. PWNA works with hundreds of reservation program partners in hundreds of tribal communities across the Southwest and Northern Plains. Year-round, we deliver about 5 million pounds of new and high-quality goods to the reservations for immediate relief from impoverishment. In addition, PWNA provides educational assistance, supports the work in process by reservation communities and helps build more capacity. This approach respects local goals and priorities and supports more self-sufficient American Indian communities.

Thank you to The Funders Network for allowing us to participate in such an important event and for helping spread awareness of some of the challenges facing Native Americans today. Incredible organizations like yours are instrumental in helping PWNA realize our vision strong, self-sufficient Native communities.
Native and Indigenous communities suffer the worst climate impacts. But they only receive a sliver of philanthropic dollars. As we observe Thanksgiving in the U.S., let's also reflect on the original inhabitants of this land -- and the urgent need to support Native-led and Native-serving organizations. Our gratitude to Joshua Arce of Partnership With Native Americans, who shared opportunities for philanthropic collaboration and partnership during TFN's fall PPREP gathering, for taking part in this video. Partnership With Native Americans is committed to championing hope for a brighter future for Native Americans, including providing aid and services for Native communities with the highest need in the U.S. Thanks as well to fellow PPREP cohort members Taylor Crowl of the Montana Community Foundation and Keaton Van Sickle of the Oklahoma City Community Foundation. They are part of TFN's most recent PREPP -- or Philanthropic Preparedness, Resiliency and Emergency Partnership -- learning cohort. The Trail of Tears refers to the forced relocation of Native American Tribes from their ancestral lands to a designated Indian Territory (modern-day Oklahoma) in the 1830s. This tragic journey was part of the broader policy of westward expansion, driven by the belief in Manifest Destiny, which sought to move Native populations off their lands to make way for European-American settlers. Thousands of Native people died due to harsh conditions, disease, and malnutrition during the relocation. The Trail of Tears remains a symbol of the devastating impact of U.S. expansion on Indigenous communities. Taking care of our bodies is essential to overall health, but on reservations, there are shortages of doctors and nurses. Remedy, a junior nursing student, received a scholarship for the 2023-2024 academic year from the American Indian Education Fund? (AIEF) through Partnership With Native Americans? (PWNA). Growing up on the Rosebud Reservation, where there’s only one hospital and a few small clinics, Remedy sees the need for health role models. Without the AIEF scholarship, Remedy would have needed another job, which would have impacted her academics and well-being. She shared, “I want to let the donors know that they’re changing lives and making a difference. I wouldn’t be able to do this well in school without this scholarship.” Learn more about Remedy and see how she is an inspiration to her people at: https://lnkd.in/gKyEdKMK . . #PWNA4Hope #AIEF #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth #NativeEducation #SuccessStory #NativeHealth
