It's been an exciting week with the PwC Scholars! This past Monday, we hosted Ignite 2024, and it was a huge success thanks to the leadership of our VP of Fundraising, Abby Yerdon, and her incredible Co-Chairs Jess Chernov and Vienna Du. A big thank you to all the firms that participated! Yesterday, we continued the fun with our PwC Trivia event—it was fantastic to see Scholars and PwC professionals connect and engage. As another year comes to an end, PwC Scholars would like to thank all the wonderful guest speakers from this past semester who took the time to share their experiences that led them to their successful careers. In an effort to teach students about different career opportunities in various industries, we have been diversifying the Speaker Series while maintaining an emphasis on accounting and PwC. We had the amazing opportunity of having the following professionals speak with current students and provide insightful advice: Jaden Nogee, CPA, Senior Audit Associate at KPMG Jeremy Gold, Director of Programmatic Sales at Dotdash Meredith John Fitzpatrick, Senior Managing Director at Blackstone Alumni Panel: Hannah Kozlenko, Abigail Giambra, Laman Mirzaliyeva, Benjamin Sorensen, Emily Hedquist Thank you again to all the Scholars who attended and our guest speakers for taking the time out of their evenings to create such a valuable experience!

SOM IN THE NEWS ?? Our PwC Scholars were featured on WBNG TV 12 for their annual community service project! #SOMRising #BingPride

That’s a wrap on the 2023-24 PwC Scholars Community Service Project and PwC Day! After fundraising around $12,000 throughout the school year, Scholars dedicated 300+ hours of community service in the last semester to aid Ross Park Zoo and Rise. At the zoo, Scholars worked on the demolition and clean-up of the old peacock habitat, raked leaves, and surveyed attendees to learn more about their interest in zoos. To help Rise, our students crafted motivational art works, put together care packages, created welcome binders, built a mud kitchen, and constructed a guard rail. Thank you to all the Scholars and PwC professionals who took part in this year’s project to make an impact on the Binghamton community. We appreciate all your help and look forward to next year’s project!

Last night, PwC Scholars had a blast at the annual banquet! While eating delicious food at Traditions, we welcomed our new incoming e-board, said goodbye to our seniors, and received exciting news regarding the next international trip. Stay tuned to see where Scholars goes next! Thank you to all the Scholars, PwC professionals, and SOM faculty for attending and contributing to the friendly atmosphere!

This past Friday, our sophomores and executive board stopped by NYC for the annual Sophomore Trip! During the trip, Scholars visited the PwC office for Q&A with speakers, networking with alumni, and presentations for the flash sophomore case. The top three teams from the case competition presented to a panel of judges from PwC. Congratulations Eve Kogan, Shea Kirkpatrick, Danielle Topol, and Claire Murphy on winning the sophomore case! After visiting the PwC office, Scholars went to Madison Square Garden for a Knicks v. Nets basketball game! Students had the opportunity to participate in pregame activities such as early warm-up access, where they could watch the Knicks players warm up a few rows from the court, and the fan tunnel, where they could greet the home team as they came out of the locker room before tip-off. Thank you so much to Francesca Gonzales, Kimberly Kelly (Brower), Lauren Sostowski (Murphy), CFA, CPA, Seth Drucker, Molly Pianella (Babcock), and the rest of PwC for helping create a memorable experience for our Scholars! We would also like to show appreciation for Jessica Sandler, Dan Sullivan, Jonathan Rhine, MBA, Paul Griggs, and Binghamton alumni for speaking to our students and answering all their questions. And thank you to our sophomores for working hard towards the sophomore case presentations!
