关于我们

Purpose and Means are not like the other digital GRC consultancies. We do things differently. The data protection, digital and AI Regulatory experience for employees and management is what we focus on. We build passion and interest in this field through highly visual, and imaginative approaches. Our clients include: - Middle Eastern luxury goods retailer 2024 - Global medical devices 2024 - Global housing products 2024 - Nordic trade union 2023- - A European Data Protection Regulator 2023- - Global machinery manufacturer 2023- - Global insurtech player 2023 - Danish global high street retailer 2022/3 - UK global manufacturer 2022 - US global pharma 2022 - UK high street retailer 2022 - US women’s health care 2021- - US global MedTech 2021- - Top 5 European bank (Global DPO office) 2020- - European marketplace 2020 - Danish global retailer 2019/20 - Global marketing automation 2018 - Global security software 2017 - Nordic airline 2017 - Global emergency services 2015/6 We're a niche consultancy operating globally working with leaders to align data protection, digital and AI regulation tightly with business purpose and strategy. We are also an Official IAPP Training Partner and ISACA Accredited Training Organisation providing privacy and GRC training services worldwide. Our quest is to ensure digital GRC is not a tick-box or superficial task in companies. We typically work with legal departments bringing skills and competences that many legal professionals lack. We help overcome the perception that data protection, digital and AI regulation is solely a legal issue. The legal bias can block the potential in some companies to frame data, AI and cyber initiatives as a business imperatives. But if these important topics remain theoretical in your company, and there continues to be a disconnect between regulatory leadership and the other business functions, they will never become living and breathing.

If IT teams are stuck in the past, what’s the future? Imagine hiring a plumber. Eight months later, the kitchen’s worse - flooded, cabinets ruined. Would anyone call that 'hard work'? Or just inefficiency? IT teams face the same issue. Half their time is spent on manual tasks that automation could handle faster and better. Automation isn’t just about speed; it’s about freeing up capacity for strategy, problem-solving, and innovation. The real problem? Clinging to old habits instead of thinking ahead. Automate the routine. Focus on the future. Anything less is wasted potential. ..:: Follow Purpose and Means for daily updates about regulator and emerging technology issues ::.. https://lnkd.in/dNP5EhBx

We love a good scam story. Because deep down, we all think, 'That could never happen to me.' But here’s the thing: the best scams don’t just con the gullible - they outthink the smart. The BBC’s collection of scam podcasts is like a masterclass in lateral thinking. These aren’t just stories about fraud - they’re about psychology, about the tiny mistakes we all make, and about how people exploit them. These stories will hook you. Not just because they’re fascinating, but because they make you smarter. They teach you how to spot the cracks before someone else sees them. Give them a listen. Because the real lesson isn’t in the con. It’s in how not to get conned. When smart cities get stupid: the hidden cyber risks The smarter the city, the bigger the target. In the smart cities that are on their way, everything is connected - power grids, transport systems, hospitals. It’s seamless. It’s efficient. It’s also a hacker’s playground. One weak link, and the entire system crumbles. Traffic chaos. Lights out. Lives on the line. The usual approach? Add more locks. More tech. But here’s the problem: hackers aren’t breaking in through the front door. They’re climbing in through the window you forgot was there. Cybersecurity isn’t all about tech - it’s also about mindset. Are we thinking like the people trying to take us down? Are we stress-testing the unthinkable? Because the question isn’t *if* someone will find a way in. It’s *when.* And the smartest city isn’t the one with the most tech - it’s the one that’s ready when it all goes wrong. Harvesting crops or harvesting secrets? A drone zips over a field, spraying pesticides or scanning crops. Just another tool in the farmer’s arsenal, right? Wrong. It’s also someone else’s weapon. Think about it: this little marvel of tech isn’t just mapping soil or tracking yields. It’s harvesting data - soil composition, water resources, even food supply forecasts. Now imagine that data landing in the hands of a foreign power. It’s not farming anymore. It’s surveillance. Chinese agricultural drones are a perfect Trojan horse. Affordable, advanced, and seemingly harmless. Farmers see efficiency. The hidden play? A quiet siphoning of intelligence that could cripple supply chains or exploit vulnerabilities. And let’s not sugarcoat it - data is power. Power to predict. Power to manipulate. Power to control. We live in a world where the most dangerous weapons don’t explode - they upload. So, the next time you marvel at a drone gliding over farmland, ask: who’s really pulling the strings? Because while it sprays the crops, it might be planting something far more dangerous. Progress isn’t always what it seems. Sometimes, it’s the quiet whirr of a machine above you, already one step ahead. ..:: Follow Purpose and Means for daily updates about privacy & emerging technology issues ::.. https://lnkd.in/di-mDDPg

Data protection wasn’t on the menu: Foodinho’s €2.6M bill Foodinho, an Italian food delivery app owned by Glovo, has been hit with a €2.6M fine by Italy’s Supervisory Authority, Garante, for GDPR violations. The problem? Performance management algorithms that lacked transparency, fairness, and safeguards against bias. The algorithms, used to assess and assign rider tasks, failed to meet GDPR requirements for clarity and accuracy. Riders weren’t adequately informed about how the system worked, nor were protections in place to prevent discriminatory outcomes. This penalty highlights a growing issue in the gig economy: the need for ethical and compliant algorithmic management. ..:: Follow Purpose and Means for daily updates about privacy & emerging technology issues ::.. https://lnkd.in/grUdTQAh

Who owns *you* online? Reclaiming your digital identity in the AI era. Every click, every login, every online interaction - it all adds to your digital identity. But here’s the twist: your identity isn’t just yours anymore. Cybercriminals see it as a goldmine. Businesses view it as a treasure trove of insights. And somewhere in the middle, you’re left trying to protect what defines you in the digital world. The rise of AI is fueling this tug of war. Smarter algorithms mean stronger defences - but also more sophisticated attacks. Think phishing emails so convincing even your bank might fall for them. This isn’t just about keeping your data safe. It’s about deciding who controls your digital footprint: you or someone else? The solution starts with awareness but doesn’t end there. It’s about reclaiming control. Use multi-factor authentication. Review what you share online. And ask yourself - are you managing your identity, or is it managing you? Because in this tug of war, the side that wins is the one that cares the most!
