Our 2024 PureSegmentation research revealed about half of supplement users now purchase at least some of their supplements from large mass retailers - up from 38% pre-pandemic. We are no longer in a world where the patient walks into their practitioner’s office, receives a diagnosis and a supplement recommendation, is guided to a dispensary, and continues to reorder from their practitioner. This linear path is now the outlier instead of the norm. So what does this mean for supplement brands in the direct-to-practitioner channel? Yadim Medore shares an updated perspective on how brands should think about their practitioner strategy.

This spring, we brought together over a hundred supplement industry executives to?share insights from our latest consumer research. We asked these industry leaders to identify their largest knowledge gap when it comes to understanding their consumer. Over two-thirds of you told us the customer journey was your biggest blind spot. We weren’t surprised to hear this input from the industry. We know most brands are eager to put media in the market to drive growth. They know they need to be on Meta and Google, but they often feel unmoored without a clear channel strategy rooted in a larger marketing mission and customer intelligence. So many brands in our space are focused on the “health enthusiast” who has disposable income to spend on their wellness routine, but that generic persona doesn’t reflect how their prospective customers learn, research, shop, buy and fall in love with brands. As a resource for supplement brand marketers, our VP of Growth Marketing, Samantha Brewster, has pulled total sample insights from our latest census-balanced?PureSegmentation? research.
