Purdue University’s newest community cluster, Gautschi, has debuted at number 157 on the Top500 list of the world’s most powerful supercomputers, which was announced this week at SC24, the International Conference for High-Performance Computing, Networking, Storage and Analysis. Gautschi also ranks number 43 on the Green500 list of the most energy-efficient supercomputers in the world. The Gautschi cluster features cutting-edge technology for traditional modeling and simulation applications while also offering NVIDIA's top-tier solutions for AI applications. Gautschi, named after Walter Gautschi, professor emeritus of computer science and mathematics, is Purdue’s most powerful cluster built so far, with a peak performance of 10.86 petaFLOPs. https://lnkd.in/g5Er7_iV

How do we spark a love for STEM in young minds? ROBOTICS! ??It’s a great blend of computer science, engineering, creativity, and—most importantly—FUN! Last Saturday (November 16), I enjoyed attending the West Lafayette #FIRSTLEGOLeague Qualifying Tournament at Battleground Middle School (https://lnkd.in/dABqqYAH). The event started at 8 a.m. and ended at 5:30 p.m.! An incredible 25 teams—each with 8–10 talented 4th-8th graders—competed in the #SUBMERGED #LegoRoboticsChallenge. These young innovators built LEGO robots equipped with motors and sensors, designed creative attachments to complete “missions,” and programmed their robots using #Scratch. Beyond technical skills, they embraced problem-solving, discovery, teamwork, and having fun! ?? ?? As I like to say it’s always the who before the what and the how. At the heart of Westside Robotics is the amazing ?? Brad Thompson: a Purdue Computer Science ’13 graduate, Brad Thompson serves as the Executive Director and Senior Software Mentor of #WestSideRobotics, which supports all FIRST Robotics programs within the West Lafayette schools.
