David Nelson, associate director of the Center for Instructional Excellence and Honors College courtesy faculty, is helping lead the charge in integrating AI responsibly in the classroom. ?????? While some instructors are hesitant, many, like Lindsay Hamm, have embraced AI as a powerful tool to deepen students' understanding and enhance learning. With AI rapidly evolving, Nelson hopes to create resources and guidelines that will help instructors and students navigate this new tech landscape. "It's about using AI to enhance human thinking, not replace it," he says. ?????? #ArtificialIntelligence #InnovationHub #BoilerUp #EdTech #AIinEducation #EnhancingEducation

After a national search, we are delighted to share that Felisa Higgins, Penn State’s William A. Donan Professor of Business Administration and a Purdue alum, has accepted our invitation to lead Purdue’s John Martinson Honors College (JMHC). As clinical professor in the Daniels School at Purdue and professor of practice (by courtesy) of industrial engineering, she will serve as associate vice provost and dean, with responsibilities spanning the entirety of Purdue’s honors programs and students. Professor Higgins is no stranger to Purdue, having earned her PhD in industrial engineering here, and so we couldn’t be more delighted to welcome her back in this new capacity. In addition to serving as the Donan Professor of Business Administration in Penn State’s Smeal College of Business, she serves as the college’s associate dean of undergraduate education, leading an office that supports nearly 6,000 students. A globally engaged scholar and expert in supply chain management, she brings to Purdue years of experience and impact spanning both academia and industry, including a long stint with consumer products company Kimberly-Clark and its Latin American operations. Her excellence in teaching has also been amply recognized through multiple Penn State awards. Professor Higgins joins the JMHC at an exciting and pivotal moment. The college was recently ranked as the top eighth honors college in the country. Additionally, we are celebrating a transformative gift from Jeannie and Jim Chaney, which will establish the Pharmacy and Nursing Scholars Endowment. This endowment aims to provide scholarships for all pharmacy and nursing students who are part of the JMHC, and will serve as a model to create future scholarships for all honors students. Please join us from 4-6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, in Honors Hall for the Forging the Future event to celebrate these milestones and to welcome Professor Higgins back to Purdue. We’re thrilled to be taking the JMHC’s next giant leap with her at the helm. https://loom.ly/m8brz7c
