This week's Career Specialist Tip of the Week is brought to you by Greg Ruckdaschel: Identifying and Embracing the "Small Wins" in Your Job Search Nearly every person that goes through the job search process feels a wide variety of emotions and, unfortunately, many of those have a negative connotation. Because of this, the "negative" associated with a job search can sometimes appear to be all encompassing for a job seeker, which oftentimes doesn't allow for the "small wins" to be appreciated and embraced. As the old saying goes, "every cloud has a silver lining", and the job search can be chock-full of them if you're looking at it from the appropriate perspective. Taking the time and energy to tailor your resume/cover letter to a position that you are really interested in instead of just going with what you have? That's a win for commitment and dedication. Connected on LinkedIn with a person who works for a company you want to work for? That's a win for relationship building and due diligence. Did you get an interview request from a company that you applied for? That's a win for detail and salesmanship, which your resume likely conveyed to the recruiter/hiring team. These are just a few examples out of many that I can highlight for any job seeker to be on the lookout for in their job search process.
