We are students in the?College of Science?and members of the?Women in Science Program (WISP). We want to congratulate you on your admission to Purdue and tell you about WISP because we think it could be a great way to enhance your college experience! What is WISP? An academic year learning community and course for first-year students? A mentorship program An engaging way to connect with other women and non-binary individuals and male advocates studying science throughout your time at Purdue! Between monthly WISP events and hanging out with the women on our floor, we form lasting friendships. You can walk down the hall to study with classmates or plan non-academic activities, even if it is just eating dinner together. You'll also have an upper-class mentor to turn to with questions about the College of Science or Purdue life in general. Through these experiences living in the WISP learning community, we feel more empowered and motivated about our plans of study. We have support from other women who are striving to further their education in a science-related field. More than anything, we want you to have these opportunities too. Want to know more about WISP? There are four informal, online information sessions with current students and WISP staff coming up, and you can?register for them here. You can learn about the program and ask us anything! If you can’t make an info session, you can visit the?WISP website?or email our director,?Connie Kaspar. Just remember that you must apply to WISP before April 15, which is the priority deadline to?apply to learning communities at Purdue. The connections we have made with other women pursuing science-related degrees and careers has been a great support, especially during our first year at Purdue. We have made lifelong friends and memories we will treasure. We hope you will choose to become part of this amazing experience! Boiler Up! ? Allyson Leskiewicz, Actuarial Science, Class of ‘28 Advita Rajaram, Genetics, Class of ‘28 Layla Shihab, Artificial Intelligence, Class of ‘28 Feels great to be a part of this wonderful community! Thank you, Connie Kaspar for this wonderful opportunity! BOILER UP!
