Fun test in the shop, qualifying a sealed USB-C connector for submersion to 1 meter. (The pressure gauge is really just for fun, we know it's 1 meter down). Water indicator tape, silicone, a custom PCB and a couple machined parts, and we feel confident enough to specify this connector. #engineering #mechanicalengineering #prototype #testing #hardware #electronics

From proof of concept to multiple prototypes, this gear train has evolved to allow us to reduce noise and optimize motor performance. Iterative changes include switching to plastic gears at higher speed stages, machining the first gear onto the motor shaft directly (eliminating one stage), and finding a motor with custom performance curve to drive the mechanism at the ideal speed and torque. #engineering #mechanicalengineering #prototype #prototying #concept
