Concrete is the backbone of our #infrastructure, but like any material, it can deteriorate over time. Understanding the signs of deterioration is crucial for maintaining structural integrity. Here are the key indicators of concrete deterioration: ?? Cracks and Surface Damage: Visible cracks, spalling, or scaling on concrete surfaces can be early signs of structural distress. ?? Discoloration: Changes in the color of concrete, such as rust stains, may indicate corroded rebar within. This is often a result of water ingress and can lead to significant structural weakening if not addressed promptly. ?? Efflorescence: The appearance of a white, powdery substance on the surface of the concrete is a sign of water movement through the material. This can indicate poor waterproofing or internal damage. ?? Decreased Strength: Over time, concrete can lose its compressive strength due to chemical reactions and aggressive environments.
