The PULSAR Work Package 4 Aviation Noise Workshop has officially started! ? This workshop is being held to bring together aviation noise experts to identify research gaps and technology needs to reduce noise annoyance. The workshop will discuss the current status of EU noise research projects, recent funding opportunities, noise reduction targets, progress toward those goals, gaps in achieving objectives, and the necessary steps to bridge those gaps. Nearly two years into the project, the PULSAR consortium successfully held its first review meeting with CINEA - European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency. This meeting was a valuable opportunity to reaffirm PULSAR's commitment to supporting European policymakers in identifying critical aviation research initiatives, particularly those aimed at achieving environmental goals ??, aligning with regulatory standards ??, and meeting the expectations of European citizens ??. Over the past months, we’ve made significant progress in developing educational and technological roadmaps focused on reducing aviation noise and emissions, while also addressing the broader challenges of climate change ?? and local air quality ???. ? ???? We are thrilled to announce that the PULSAR project has been featured in the newsletter of EREA (Association of European Research Establishments in Aeronautics)! We believe PULSAR is a key EU project which contributes to the objectives of EREA’s Future Sky Programme. Here's why: ??PULSAR Alignment with Future Sky: EREA's Future Sky focuses on 6 thematic areas (2019 update) – safety, quiet air transport, energy, urban air mobility, security for aviation, and circular aviation – providing a comprehensive framework for addressing the multifaceted challenges of future air transport. PULSAR contributes to several Future Sky themes, especially via its comprehensive European Environmental Research Roadmap, which focuses on noise, CO2 and non-CO2 emissions, and sustainable aviation fuels. ?? Noise Pollution Mitigation: PULSAR’s efforts to assess and propose ways to mitigate noise pollution align closely with Future Sky’s Quiet Air Transport theme. By leveraging the Noise Platform previously developed in the Horizon 2020 project ANIMA Project, PULSAR will deliver a European Platform for Environmental Aviation (EPEA). ?? Energy Innovations: PULSAR is developing air traffic scenarios up to 2050, with a special focus on Europe, linking socioeconomic conditions, availability of energy sources and traffic patterns with their respective flight routes and aircraft or engine types. This aligns closely with Future Sky’s Energy theme, particularly focusing on Sustainable Aviation Fuel, hydrogen, and emerging power sources.
