On Monday morning, MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski informed their audience that, for the first time in seven years, they met with Donald Trump—the very man they’d spent the last several years vociferously pillorying. Though they cast the Trump meeting as an attempt to foster a constructive dialogue, in reality, the couple made the trek to Mar-a-Lago because they feared retribution. Puck’s Dylan Byers has the real backstory to Joe and Mika’s surprise pilgrimage to Mar-a-Lago—and what it had to do with a 2001 intern. Puck’s art market expert, Marion Maneker, shares his notes from the November sales romp: Buyers have cash and determination, but are still picky; Picasso had a rough night; and Matisse was mixed. But Kandinsky cleared $21 million and an unsigned Monet waterlilies sold for $65.5 million. (And yes, those Les Lalannes tables everyone is going wild for did just fine.) Here’s an unscripted plot twist: Netflix has become a villain in its own documentary film, “Our Father”—about a fertility specialist who secretly inseminated his patients—after disclosing the names of the doctor’s children without their consent. A lawsuit raises the provocative question: Did they have a constitutional right to remain private? Puck’s Eriq Gardner assesses whether this could be the first high-profile Netflix case to go all the way to a jury verdict: https://lnkd.in/dx5iBcJc Photo Courtesy of Netflix #Legal #Entertainment?

As Republicans increasingly dominate the creator universe and alternative media, Democrats have been reckoning with an uncomfortable reality about their own media ecosystem: Legacy media is losing its place in the attention economy. Democrats have been circulating data showing that voters who closely follow the news were more likely to vote for Harris. While this divide has long been a defining characteristic of our politics, the declining relevance of mainstream news in the Trump era is working against Democrats. “If Democrats keep depending on affluent people who follow the news closely to win elections, they’re whistling past the graveyard,” Puck’s Peter Hamby writes. With six weeks to go before taking the reins of The Estée Lauder Companies Inc., incoming C.E.O. Stephane de La Faverie flew to Canada the other day with another high-ranking executive, Nicola Kilner, to deliver some deflating news. Kilner, the co-founder and C.E.O. of The Ordinary parentco DECIEM | THE ABNORMAL BEAUTY COMPANY, would be stepping back from the Toronto-helmed beauty brand that she founded 11 years ago—five months after ELC finally completed its gradual, years-long acquisition of her company for $1.7 billion. What will Kilner do at Deciem now, and who is being elevated to global brand president? House Republicans are currently sitting on the conclusions of an Ethics Committee probe into the alleged misconduct of Matt Gaetz’s, Trump’s pick for attorney general, which could potentially derail his nominations even before it comes to a vote. In the meantime, Senate Republicans are internally discussing three other scenarios: Trump leaning on Congress to abdicate its constitutional duty to “advise and consent,” allowing Gaetz to circumvent the confirmation process; the nomination dying a slow death amid discovery; or the Senate moving ahead with a hearing that would make the Brett Kavanaugh and Clarence Thomas confirmations look tame.
