Federal employees play a vital role in our everyday lives. Yet today, they face unprecedented threats. Career civil servants are being arbitrarily purged from the federal workforce, agencies are being shuttered and these vital public services are being disrupted. Civil servants need our support now more than ever. Show your support by sharing a story about a federal employee who has made a difference in your life to help us demonstrate why public servants matter and what is at stake if their work is disrupted. #ISupportFeds Submit your story here: https://lnkd.in/eJK7aySk

In the federal government, layoffs are called reduction in force (RIF) actions. Federal agencies use RIFs to downsize their workforce due to a variety of factors such as reorganization, lack of work, shortage of funds or insufficient personnel ceiling. Right now, thousands of federal employees across the nation are facing RIFs. These reductions will: ? Deplete our government of critical expertise ? Reduce the capacity to respond quickly to public needs ? Result in the decline of vital public services ? Put our national security at risk Watch our latest explainer video on the ins and outs of reductions in force and explore our resource hub here: https://lnkd.in/eSeUeSkR

Right now, we are watching arson on the most important public asset that we have: Our government. ? At the Partnership for Public Service, our mission is building a better government and a stronger democracy. We believe that all Americans should want a government that works efficiently and effectively on their behalf. ? Our federal government is responsible for keeping us safe and enables us to compete globally. The civil servants who make up our federal government are fundamental to our survival. ? Our lives in a complex, modern and dangerous world require expertise at the public level from people who are not doing this for profit but are doing it because they are looking out for the greater good. Tearing down the structure that has been in place for more than 140 years puts our nation at risk. ? We are seeing the destruction of our government, civil service and democracy. This is hurting us now and will hurt us for decades to come. ? I discussed the damage of firing our civil service and what it would take to rebuild the ruins of our federal government on Factually! with Adam Conover. ?
