“…[T]he math the automakers have used to justify keeping as many assembly plants, tech centers and headquarter jobs in Michigan is being disrupted by policymakers on the hunt for a way to pay for road and bridge repairs without charging everyday drivers who use the roads,” opines Chad Livengood from The Detroit News. Livengood referenced PSC research, which estimates the road funding shortfall amounts to about $545 a year for every adult in Michigan, while considering other funding options and impacts across the state. The long and winding road?to secure funding continues, with last week’s House vote to adopt a package that addresses the $3.9 billion annual road funding deficit. #Michiganroads #Michiganpolicy #PSCinthenews https://lnkd.in/egFQ6zNk

We hosted students from across Michigan at our downtown Lansing office as part of the 4-H Capitol Experience through Michigan State University Extension. They visited PSC to learn about public policy as a career path, and PSC consultants Meagan O'Brien and Colleen Gaffney provided feedback on a bill the students drafted as an exercise in understanding the legislative process. Judging from the students’ insightful questions and enthusiasm, we know the future of Michigan is looking bright. There could be some future policy researchers in this bunch! #Michiganpolicy #PSCpeople

We feel such a sense of accomplishment when we see our policy projects come to life and make an impact in Michigan communities. Our director Jon Beard got to experience this as the Great Lakes Fishery Trust, staffed by PSC, worked with the community in Honor to build two universally accessible fishing platforms along the Platte River. #Michiganpolicy #accessibility
Funding from the Access grant program is providing anglers of all abilities with two universally accessible fishing platforms at Platte River Park! In addition to building the two platforms, this project paved a walkway to ensure year-round access and added new signage highlighting local fish, sustainable fishing, and river ecology. The park now has over 1,500 feet of river access. #angling #fishing #GreatLakes #Michigan #Access?

It’s 313 Day, a day to celebrate all things Detroit! For PSC, it’s a moment to reflect on some of the projects and partners we have been proud to support across the city. Recently, we dove into the development and implementation of an intentional, forward-looking 2030 strategic plan with Detroit Future City. Our economic contribution study we conducted for MichAuto was highlighted at the Detroit Auto Show this year and referenced in major media outlets. Our research revealed that Michigan’s mobility industry makes up 20% of employment in the state. Since its inception in 2015, we have worked with leaders on TechTown Detroit’s MedHealth initiative, is a regional collaboration that connects, convenes, and educates the medical innovation ecosystem in Michigan and Ontario to drive innovation for technologies that improve quality of care and contribute to economic?growth. The Great Lakes Fishery Trust, staffed by PSC, supported the National Wildlife Federation with the Detroit Leadership and Environmental Education Program, which helped high schoolers from across Detroit engage in 75 after-school programs including nature excursions. ? We have a long history of work in Detroit. With projects in progress and a new downtown office location coming soon, we have an exciting future ahead of us in the 313, too. #Detroit #313Day #Michiganpolicy

PSC is on the road again! Julie Metty Bennett was in Seattle to meet with the board of the Washington State Green Bank. This is the third green bank we have helped launch and incubate recently, taking our total number of green banks we’ve supported nationwide to five! Green banks bridge the gap between ambitious energy goals and real-world implementation, which is why we are committed to working with partners to make home energy improvements more accessible and more affordable. #GreenBank #CleanEnergy #PSCPeople #WhereisPSC
On the road again, this time meeting with the board of the Washington State Green Bank. This is the third green bank Public Sector Consultants has helped launch and incubate recently to leverage federal investment and share the 15-year experience we have staffing Michigan Saves. While the federal funding landscape has been, well, interesting, we are pushing forward to ensure communities have access to the capital they need for clean energy and efficiency projects. Excited to collaborate with leaders in Washington State and bring lessons learned from Michigan Saves to maximize impact. Let’s go! #GreenBank #CleanEnergy #Sustainability #Impact

As a Women-Owned Small Business, we understand that the network and connections we nurture are the foundation of our success. So, for our inaugural International Women’s Day Celebration, we gathered women in policy and politics at our office for connection and inspiration. The gourmet cupcakes and build-your-own bouquet bar just sweetened the deal as we lifted up local women leaders. #internationalwomensday #IWD #accelerateaction #womenownedbusinesses
