关于我们
The Public Media Women in Leadership group was co-founded in January 2015 by public media veterans Deanna Martin Mackey and Jeannie Ericson. The purpose of the group is threefold: establish a mentorship program to better prepare women with potential to become future CEOs/COOs in the system; create a community via Facebook and webinars/trainings to encourage conversation and sharing about issues related to women in leadership; and create awareness in the public media industry about the critical need to diversify station leadership. In the fall of 2018, Public Media Women in Leadership (PMWL) launched a three-year program to provide one-on-one mentorship partnerships for women in public media and develop facilitated peer-group communities around job verticals and leadership topics. Funded by the Wyncote Foundation, the Mentorship and Engagement Initiative has a range of components to provide mentoring, training and community for women in public media to both retain rising stars and prepare established leaders to attain the highest positions at stations and national organizations. Read the recent press release. The elements of the mentorship and engagement program were developed based on survey input from the members of PMWL, from results garnered from the group's pilot mentor program in 2015-2016 as well as learnings from the many webinars and conference sessions the organization has hosted.

Help Public Media Colleagues Affected by the Los Angeles Area Wildfires https://lnkd.in/ecicNwB5 Public media leader Israel Smith created a GoFundMe to benefit the Station Resource Group Inc. to support members of the public media community in the Los Angeles area who have been devastated by recent wildfires. Our colleagues, including on-air and behind-the-scenes staff, have continued to serve their communities while facing personal losses such as homes, pets, and cherished belongings. Donations from the wider public media community will establish a relief fund that demonstrates the collective strength of public media during this critical time. The fundraiser will remain open through the end of January, with funds expected to be distributed by late February. For more?information and to donate -- go here:? https://lnkd.in/ecicNwB5

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our dear friend and PMWL champion, Dorothy McGrath. Taken from us far too soon, Dorothy poured her heart and soul into public media throughout her remarkable career. Her unwavering dedication was evident during her time as Alaska Public Media’s Chief Operations Officer and VP of Administration, as well as leadership roles at Milwaukee PBS, and Nebraska Public Media. She was also a proud participant in the PMWL Boot Camp and Mentoring Circles, where her passion for leadership and system-wide progress shone brightly. Dorothy’s dedication, mentorship, and infectious positivity inspired so many of us, and her legacy will continue to shape the public media system that she cared so deeply about. We offer our deepest condolences to Dorothy's family, friends and colleagues.

How wonderful is this? It just so happened that Ashley Virtue from National Conflict Resolution Center was in #Atlanta and she made time in her busy schedule to record a conversation about conflict resolution for those of us working in public media. The perfect topic for Public Media Women in Leadership #PMWLConnectionHour, as we navigate election season. THANK YOU, Ashley, for being so on point - at the perfect time! Our PMWL members took away a lot of great insight from the conversation today. And to top it all off, we made a Spotify Playlist. Love it!

This month is very special to me as it marks the six year anniversary of my tenure with Public Media Women in Leadership. This is why as I reflect on my professional journey, it’s bittersweet for me to share that I will be stepping down from my role at PMWL this month. I will be announcing an exciting new chapter in my professional career soon, stay tuned for more on that. In the meantime, I will continue to keep up with all things PMWL and public media, now from the sidelines rather than the playing field. During the past six years I have been fortunate to collaborate with amazing people across the system with the common goal of supporting the professional and leadership development journeys of women throughout public media. From leading the production of the Public Media CEO/COO BootCamp and supporting 59 fellows through their C-Suite journeys, curating the 1:1 mentoring and mentoring circles programs impacting more than 300 women, engaging our 2,400+ community members, and working with 140+ trainers and partner organizations… The list goes on but all in all, I am beyond proud of the community I have been a part of these past few years and the work I have spearheaded on behalf of the organization. I am extremely grateful for Deanna Mackey’s mentoring and leadership these past few years. Deanna, being your partner on all things PMWL has been one of the most fulfilling professional experiences I have had to date. Thank you for your trust and for giving me the opportunity to bring your dreams to fruition. Thank you to everyone for trusting me in supporting your leadership development journeys these past few years. It is time for me to focus on my own journey and I cannot wait for what the future holds. #LeadershipDevelopment #Consulting #CareerTransition #PublicMedia
