关于我们
Public Interest Investigations is a leading provider of neutral, trauma-informed workplace investigations, Title IX investigations, and criminal investigations for public agencies, corporations, non-profits, universities, school districts, and law firms. PII’s team of attorneys, investigative reporters, and journalists decipher facts to discover the truth in contentious situations, giving all parties involved the opportunity to communicate their points of view. Founded in 1984 to conduct investigations and litigation research, PII has grown into a team of investigators with diverse backgrounds in employment law, journalism, human resources, criminal law, human rights, writing, and more. This blend of legal knowledge and broad investigative experiences combined with curiosity and collaborative culture is the PII difference. PI#19508

Free speech vs. academic freedom. School leadership and administrators are navigating uncharted waters with today's heightened tensions over political, religious, and racial issues stemming from conflicts in the Middle East. More info: https://lnkd.in/gMM8Ncry Here are some examples of allegations we recently addressed: ?? A professor was accused of Islamophobic comments during a public presentation. ?? A student allegedly made anti-Semitic remarks during a presentation by supporters of the Israeli government. ?? A Jewish student who entered and videotaped a pro-Palestinian encampment on campus alleged she was harassed. Are you seeing a lot of activity in this area? Let us know! #investigations #allegations #racism #campus #titleVI #antidiscrimination

It was our pleasure to sponsor and attend the Los Angeles Alliance for a New Economy (LAANE) #CityofJustice awards dinner last week. This year's theme, "Good Trouble," represents the transformative power of nonviolent direct action in the pursuit of social, political, environmental, and economic transformation. Keith Rohman AWI-CH, Barbara Dalton, Anetta Stark & Miles Grillo enjoyed celebrating this year's honorees at the event, including our long-time friend and LAUSD Board President, Jackie Goldberg. Victory after TWENTY YEARS! In perhaps the most important matter in our 40 year history, serving as the principal investigators for lawyers representing detainees at the Iraqi Abu Ghraib prison in Al Shimari, et al. v. CACI, a federal jury ruled in favor of three of the detainees! The landmark verdict found that CACI International, a civilian Virginia-based defense contractor with the U.S. government, was responsible for inhumane treatment of the detainees. CACI was ordered to pay the detainees $42 million. Congratulations to the Center for Constitutional Rights and attorneys Shereef Akeel and Susan Burke, among others, on this historic accomplishment Learn more >> https://lnkd.in/gDQi4gEy #abughraib #investigations

Another successful Association of Workplace Investigators, Inc. conference is in the books! Keith Rohman AWI-CH and Roberta M. Yang, Esq., AWI-CH, CFE held a lively session on managing workplace investigations when CRIMINAL activity may be suspected. Some of their key points were: ?? There is no secret handshake for this work. Your solid investigative techniques can work here as well as they do in equity investigations. ??? Trust your Spidey sense when evaluating the case. 1?? Begin your investigation strategically with a few trusted employees to avoid tipping off the bad actors. ?? Be strategic about when to “call the cops.” Think of the repercussions before acting. ?? Keep your eyes peeled for skeletons in the client’s closet. We hope everyone from the East Coast made it home safely amidst Hurricane Helene. Comment below if you would like a copy of the slides.? #investigations #criminal #workplaceinvestigations #investigator
