Aligning people, strategies, and resources for health equity and justice
关于我们
PHIMC advances health justice and strengthens public health through innovation and partnerships that align people, strategies, and resources. We envision systems that impact how we live, work, and play that are compassionate, affirming, and racially equitable, supporting health and well‐being for all people. Public Health Institute of Metropolitan Chicago believes that the greatest possibilities for public health are achieved when organizations work together to bridge gaps, leverage resources, and address oppressive policies that hurt people. Through our comprehensive partnerships, we transform systems. PHIMC brings head and heart to our work as practitioners, advocates, educators, organizers, researchers, and thought partners. Our passion is fueled by the knowledge that our creative partnerships with other nonprofits, community‐based organizations, cross‐sector government agencies, and other institutions truly make the public’s health better. It is possible to have public health and healthcare systems that serve everyone. At PHIMC, we practice our core values of equity, authenticity, responsiveness, and togetherness.

In recognition of World AIDS Day on December 1, we will be sharing resources and information throughout the month of November that are integral to raising awareness about HIV and AIDS and honoring the lives affected by the epidemic. Since 1990, the Ryan White Program has been helping reduce health disparities and improve health outcomes for those living with HIV. The Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program is a vital resource for people living with HIV, providing essential services to help manage their health and improve their quality of life. The program offers: - Access to medical care, medications, mental health support, and other critical services. - Assistance with housing, transportation, and case management to ensure individuals receive comprehensive care. - Nationwide availability for those who qualify, supporting communities across the United States. What a great way to end the week! Attended the Chicago Public Schools Whole Child Partner Summit at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. This was my first time attending representing the Alliance at Public Health Institute of Metropolitan Chicago and I learned so much about CPS and their programmatic supports. Definitely making sure to connect with a few people. Participants learned about district initiatives that align with the Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child (WSCC) model, the CDC's framework for addressing health in schools and a core value of CPS' 2022-2025 blueprint. Plus got to see some amazing people like Braulio Puente Jr ! So happy we got to talk. Wishing you the best as you continue your professional and educational journey.

Trans people and communities deserve to live and thrive. As gender-affirming care is under more scrutiny, it is more important than ever to support individuals and communities to ensure they receive the lifesaving care that they deserve. Through advocacy, we can support trans communities. As we strive towards health equity, uplifting and centering trans voices and experiences creates healthier and safer futures where trans people not only survive but thrive. #TGDWellness #TransgenderAwarenessWeek #TransHealthEquity
