Thank you to the Legal Services Corporation for having our President & CEO Kathryn Eidmann on their Talk Justice podcast for this insightful and important conversation on the professionalization of pro bono! Public Counsel was founded on a pro bono legal service model, and it's central to advancing our mission and serving our communities. Special thanks to Lee Kathryn Rawles and Sandhya Kidd for a terrific discussion! #ProBono #ProBonoWeek
Pro bono work is often thought of as a side project that lawyers perform, but legal aid organizations that can rely on full-time staff have increased opportunities to expand services and provide more intensive client service through pro bono. Catch the latest episode of Talk Justice for a look at the benefits of professionalizing pro bono. The ABA Journal's Lee Kathryn Rawles is joined by Public Counsel's Kathryn Eidmann and LSC's Sandhya Kidd. Talk Justice episodes are available on Spotify, Apple and all other popular platforms. #ProBono #ProBonoWeek

Congratulations to our attorneys Roman Silberfeld and Tommy Du, and Mark Rosenbaum of Public Counsel, for being named Litigators of the Week! They represented thousands of homeless veterans with traumatic brain injuries and serious mental illness in Los Angeles County in a case that led to a powerful ruling. ? U.S. District Judge David Carter found the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs had illegally leased parts of its West LA campus and failed to provide housing for disabled veterans, preventing them from accessing critical healthcare benefits. The ruling requires the VA to build over 2,500 housing units for low-income veterans, ensuring that the land serves its original purpose—housing our veterans. ? This is a huge win for over 3,000 unhoused veterans in Los Angeles, ensuring better access to housing and healthcare benefits.
